Russia is shipping parts for drones, missiles and explosives to Iran to replenish its weapons stockpiles decimated by US and Israeli airstrikes during the war, according to a new report.
More than two dozen Russian ships, many of them under US and European sanctions, traveled across the Caspian Sea to deliver the arms to Iran’s port in Amirabad, NBC News reported, citing documents and a Western official.
While the development demonstrates Moscow and Tehran’s deepening alliance, it also proves that the US-Israeli strikes against Iran’s production plants have been largely successful, Jim Lamson, a former CIA analyst, told the outlet.
“Iran’s procurement of drone components and small arms ammunition from Russia strongly suggests that Israeli and US military strikes on Iran’s facilities that produce these items have degraded Iran’s domestic capability to produce them,” he said.
The Russian ships currently transporting military cargo are allegedly owned by MG-FLOT, a maritime company that was hit by Western sanctions in 2024.
Russia has been repeatedly accused of aiding Iran’s war effort and sending upgraded drones to the Islamic republic to bolster Tehran’s ability to hit US targets. The Kremlin has notably improved on Iran’s war-defining Shahed suicide drones, which have plagued Ukraine for years. *** It remains unclear how many supplies Russia has gifted Iran, with the Kremlin repeatedly slamming the allegations as nothing more than “fake news.” President Trump has downplayed Russia’s aid to Iran, claiming last month that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin assured him that Moscow was not selling arms to Tehran.***

It’s business. Nothing personal.
Nuke Moscow. Nothing personal.
glad we decided to give Iran time to reorganize and resupply.
WHY is our leadership always SO DUMB!?!?
Trump started this right and then almost immediately did a U-turn and started making stupid decisions.
KILL THE ENTIRE LEADERSHIP of Iran!!! you were on the right track!!!!
At least the Russia and Red China side isn’t sending troops like they did in Korea and Vietnam.
Someone correct me, but I don’t think Russia has much in the way of drones or explosives to export.
The irony is that Iran was helping Russia with drone and rocket production a couple years ago.
Iran can no longer export drones, rockets, missiles, or explosives to Russia. Their military supply chains have been severely degraded.
Where are the giant manufactories of computer chips in Iran or Russia? Hint: they’re in Chyna.
That would be a set back for the forever war business.
An article based on rumors...
“glad we decided to give Iran time to reorganize and resupply.”
~~~~~~~
This has given us time to re-supply as well. And we can do it better, faster, and with more stuff than Iran could ever hope for.
(see also: WWII)
Let’s face it, after several months US forces need big resupply and a break for the sailors, pilots, and all supporting supporting service members in the region.
Iran’s military and supply and production lines are extremely broken. Morale within the IRGC is crumbling. IRGC-QF is barely hanging on. The regular Iranian Army forces don’t even show up because they’re not getting paid. The Basij have been reduced to looting bandits.
If anyone thinks a few months of military and economic pressure is a “quagmire” or “extended conflict” or “unsustainable” I’d advise them to study history.
IF US intel confirms the shipments, that port should be removed from the face of the earth before the ships even arrive.
Most likely, the Iranians are making this up to try to scare Americans. (It seems to have worked on certain posters here.)
This wouldn’t be happening if Trump had finished the job.
Whatever they do have to export, this article should make an assumption that our intelligence knows about it and could whack the trucks leaving the port at any time. So could Israel. Better than sinking the ships... less provocative and not directly confrontational with Russia.
But, but, but Russia is still a boogeyman! They said so on CNN! Putin violates “human rights” in terrible ways like...not letting sexual deviants groom children! Zelensky is a rock star! The globalist, neocon “defense policy experts” on TV say we gotta put boots on the ground in Ukraine NOW! And you’re not a real American if you won’t fight for the God hating cucks, globalists, homos, drag queens, groomers, and Islamic jihadists who run the EU!
I recall reading credible stories of both Russian and Chinese pilots flying aircraft against the US during both Korea and Vietnam. Does anyone else here recall that or have anything to add to it?
Could the Iranians then USE gifted Russian nukes in this conflict, claiming that they have created their own and are now a nuclear power? Or can it be easily determined where a detonated bomb came from deciseively?
Proxy wars have consequences.
New target...
Thousands of Russians served in Vietnam
“Starting in 1964, North Vietnamese fighter pilots and anti-aircraft gunners were being trained in the Soviet Union, with Soviet advisors also being stationed in North Vietnam. Early on, when the North Vietnamese troops were still unfamiliar with the new Soviet anti-aircraft batteries, Soviet crews manned the guns themselves and these crews did, in fact, shoot down US planes. One such Soviet battery reportedly downed six US planes.”
“Soviet involvement was not confined to anti-aircraft crews. There were also widespread reports (though these were never confirmed) that Soviet snipers had embedded with NVA units and infiltrated South Vietnam to test their new SVD Dragunov sniper rifles. Witnesses described these snipers as white men with blue eyes.
Beyond South Vietnam proper, but still within the unofficial theater of the war, Soviet GRU Spetsnaz special forces took part in at least one, and likely more, ground combat operation. In 1968, a team of ten Spetsnaz attacked a covert US base on the Cambodian-Vietnamese border, destroying three of the then-new US Cobra attack helicopters and actually stealing another. This operation was confirmed only after the fall of the Soviet Union, and if there was one Soviet special forces mission, there were almost certainly more.”
“From 1968 on, the Soviet Union provided the vast majority of the military and economic aid that North Vietnam received. They supplied their communist allies with food, petroleum, transport vehicles, iron, steel, fertilizer, arms, and ammunition. Most critically, the Soviets supplied all of this as aid rather than loans (as the Chinese had done early in the war). This eased the economic strain on North Vietnam and further advanced their war effort.”
