~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Fort Drum, New York
Fort Drum is a U.S. Army military reservation and a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, on the northern border of New York, United States. It is home to the 10th Mountain Division.
Fort Drum consists of 107,265 acres. In this region, winter temperatures can reach as low as −30 °F (−34 °C). Its mission includes command of active component units assigned to the installation, providing administrative and logistical support to tenant units, support to active and reserve units from all services in training at Fort Drum, and planning and support for the mobilization and training of almost 80,000 troops annually.

The 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) is a light infantry division in the United States Army based at Fort Drum, New York. Formerly designated as a mountain warfare unit, the division was the only one of its size in the US military to receive specialized training for fighting in mountainous conditions. More recently, the 10th Mountain has been conducting operations in Iraq and Syria advising and assisting Iraqi Security Forces and People's Defense Units.
The 7th Engineer Battalion is a unit of the United States Army located at Fort Drum, New York. This battalion falls under the 10th Mountain Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team. The battalion has the Brigade Combat Team's engineer companies, military intelligence company, and signal company.
The 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) was established Sept. 16, 2004, at Fort Drum, New York.
The 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment; 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment; 4th Battalion, 25th Artillery Regiment; 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment; 710th Brigade Support Battalion; and 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion were brought together to form the Spartans of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI). They served in both the Regional Command East and the Regional Command South areas of responsibility in Afghanistan.

My son’s old unit, he used the benefits to go to a local college in that area after he left the 10th Mountain, and then got an art scholarship to Cooper Union in NYC.

Yep, only tonight, I’m not hoppin’ anywhere, LOL! Stayed up way too late last night and I’m about to faceplant straight to the carpet.
Sayin’ howdy for a few minutes, then going to retire for the evening.
Hope you have a pleasant week!

Glad you’re able to knock off earlier tonight. But do try to make it to the bed before you faceplant. Pillows are much softer than the carpet. LOL

Howdy, luvie.
Hit 99 right before the storms moved through the area this evening. One batch of storms passed a mile or less to the east and the other passed a mile or less to the west. I got NOTHING. Did get a decent light show, at least. The Cowan cam caught some of that just after 6:00.

Hey radu, good weekend, son's over tonight for dinner, having spicey wings from the delicatessen and of course we'll play a video game.
How's the healing coming along?

I found it and am listening to it thunder in Cowan. I did see a couple of pretty nice strikes behind that tall antenna to the left of the white building. I want to watch it rain...and remember what it’s like.
Too bad y’all got nothing. Of course with it that hot there, it would have been sooooo steamy afterward!

Sounds like a fun evening. Yummy supper and saving the world. :-)
I managed to get a little mowing done LATE yesterday and have otherwise stayed inside with the AC the last three days. Too darn hot!
The healing’s coming along, slowly but surely. Diligently doing the exercises the dr. gave me to do to strengthen the ankle. Doesn’t hurt to walk on it but it tires easily when I have to go to the grocery store and such.
