President Trump confirmed the US isn’t expanding the window for peace talks with Tehran on Monday as the US-Iran memorandum of understanding’s 60-day deadline for negotiations expired.
“Well, they want to make a deal, but they’re not going to make the kind of a deal that I feel is necessary,” President Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday.
The president has demanded a ceasefire that will end Iran’s nuclear program but Tehran wants to pursue a “nuclear energy” program.
The MOU failed to meet major objectives, like reopening the Strait of Hormuz, ending Tehran’s nuclear program and reaching a final peace deal.
Its provisions allow for an extension of talks, but those have been dead for weeks — and now both sides agree any extension is pointless.

The Iranian regime is stalling anyway!
It sure does look like both sides are stalling.
Good. Pull the plug.
The MOU was DOA on Day One anyway.
Useless and worthless.
What would be the point in trying to resurrect it anyway?
To underscore a rousing sixteenth declaration of victory!

Iran denies rumors of back-channel peace talks with U.S.
Iran on Monday officially denied allegations that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was engaged in back-channel talks with the U.S.
Ffffuuuuu....
Bombs away. Every bridge. Every Tunnel. Every train track. Every port. Every boat. Every truck.
Time to practice Drone warfare on individual members of the IRGC.
Them there Iranians are tough negotiators! (/S)
I wonder if we could get the Flock company to offer their Flock cameras on every street corner in Iran free of charge (secretly paid for by our Dept. of War).
That would sure help with real time targeting. What am i thinking? The Democrats would never allow the invasion of Iranian’s privacy like they do Americans.
You are becoming tiresome.

I wonder what the non-retarded version of all this would have looked like. Guess we’ll never know.
Does anyone think that the Iranians do not have operatives who post here on FR?
In WW II Tokyo Rose and Lord Haw-Haw broadcast on the radio. Their 21st century counterparts post on the internet behind screen-name disguises.
Just like Tokyo Rose and Lord Haw-Haw, they try to demoralize their enemies, namely us.
The memorandum of delay was nothing but a tactic to waste time, let the November elections get closer, let the emergency energy reserve deplete and most importantly, time for Iran to reorganize and rearm.
I do not disagree.

Even if we had that many bombs, which we do not, it would not work. Drones and drone parts can be smuggled easily. So bomb every car and motorcycle? Drones can be made and paired with explosives anywhere. We would merely prove to the world how ineffective our military is against asymmetric warfare.
IRGC? Are they all identifiable? We could kill all 160,000 with $16 billion with our cheapest missile if we had the missiles and didn't miss
A better plan: precision bomb every nuke site. If they are deep then bunker bomb those. Bomb any plant suspected of making missiles. Ballistic missiles cannot be made at home.
Leave the Strait closed. I am happy to send the bulk of my $15 to $20 a day in gas to American companies using American suppliers. I realize that's not completely the case but it will be. Forcing the Strait open ignores the dynamics of free markets to work around problems like that.
I hope Trump pulls the cord ahead of the elections in time for the win and an opening of the Strait of Hormuz and gas prices dropping.
I know nobody wants to hear it now - and 25 years ago, this wouldn’t have been controversial to say, especially in so-called conservative circles.
But the basic reality is this:
1. W and company made the case for Iraq. You can say they over-promised how easy it would be (fair), you can say they overhyped the danger (also fair), but none of that changes the fact they presented the case.
2. Much as the leftists complained otherwise? Congress got its proper role: The AUMF. Imperfect, overly broad - but not a damn person has a leg to stand on pretending the AUMF wasn’t about Iraq.
3. They further made their case to the world - old Europe balked; new Europe joined in.
Of course, nowadays, W is evil and everybody damns him and Cheney and etc for it. Nice to have 20/20 hindsight.
None of that changes the basic fact it was at least done properly: Making the case to the American people *BEFORE* going to war. Getting congressional blessing to *START* the war. Throwing down the global gauntlet and forcing our allies to make a choice.
What really ticks me off? People damn W for Iraq. And I don’t disagree mistakes were made (’winning the peace’, poor planning, etc).
And now many of those same damn people here who hate W? Suddenly, you’re all gung-ho about new talking points around a 47 year war, a strong leader just involving the US in a war of choice, and “trust the plan” despite the fact that I see no plan.
It would be nice if people would at least offer a modicum of principle and consistency: A modicum fanboys throw a hissy fit if you ask regarding our current Iran imbroglio.
I have ZERO answers to fix the problem beyond “These are all things that should have better planned and considered BEFORE February”
