New Mexico keeps regular vaccine schedule despite Trump order
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | August 12, 2026 | Eddie Moore

New Mexico is still advising that children receive the normal vaccine schedule after the Trump administration’s Monday executive order, which called for paring down the number of recommended vaccines and spacing out existing shots.

“Here in New Mexico, nothing has changed,” said Dr. Miranda Durham, chief medical officer for the New Mexico Department of Health.

Durham said NMDOH follows the American Academy of Pediatrics childhood vaccine schedule, which makes all vaccines available to parents if they choose. Insurance coverage for vaccines will not change either — New Mexico Medicaid plans and private insurance will continue to cover childhood vaccines regardless of the executive order, she said.

NMDOH continues to recommend 17 different vaccines, including shots protecting against hepatitis A and B, influenza and COVID-19, though the White House’s executive order cut the list down to 11.

Trump also advocated for splitting the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine into three separate shots, to be administered at different times. The single-shot MMR vaccine has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safe use since 1971.

NMDOH will continue to administer the MMR vaccine all at once, Durham said.

“Splitting it up … really offers no advantages,” Durham said. “There’s no safety difference. It’s just more visits, more pokes, more time off of work, more time schlepping your kid to the doctor.”

Regardless of the executive order, the MMR vaccine is not even manufactured as three different shots, she added.

“Even if, as a doctor, you wanted to order a single antigen vaccine, one that just covers measles, it’s not available in the U.S.,” Durham said. “I’m not sure it’s available anywhere.”

“Our message remains the same: The science is clear — vaccines are safe, effective and save children’s lives,” Durham said.

I’ve given up on our state.

Slowly but surely divesting everything.

I’ll probably keep our house in Rui. But the second my wife’s parents die, our primary residence will be TX.

There is NO SUCH thing as a NORMAL vaccine schedule. Good luck finding two countries with the same one. Good luck find a schedule that doesn't change each decade or more.

There are guidelines, and if NM is taking Fed money for this stuff, they are obliged to follow the present guidelines, which are the new "normal".

Precisely. This isn't complicated. If they refuse to comply with constitutional Federal orders then they lose all of their Federal funding for every single project receiving Federal pork. All of it.

Restoration of said Federal funding should come with a mandatory extended probationary period during which they must establish a successful record of compliance with Federal mandates. Not a cent more until then end of a successful probationary period; divert the money to other states in compliance with Federal regulations.

Anyone who says "The science is clear — vaccines are safe, effective" is

1) is waaaaay behind the current research
2) is simply regurgitating the disproven media line
3) has no real interest in children's health, and
4) likely makes a killing annually in pharma incentives

Nothing will change until those that violate the Fed law are put in jail.

It is always individuals that do that. Put some in jail and even a gov’mt employee can take the hint.

Autism is real and has greatly increased in children the past several decades, The cause is unknown and may be due to chemical additives in processed food or maybe due to cumulative effects from multiple vaccines given to very young children. Until a cause is found it’s prudent to eliminate multiple possibilities.

I actually suspect the cause is known. It's just highly unpopular for people to believe that others -- doctors especially -- would inject babies with "vaccines" having little quality control or liability ... preserved with solvents, antifreeze, or heavy metals ... and contaminated with GMO of various types ... all for the almighty dollar.

Are we really at the point where we have to ask how much antifreeze is safe to inject in a little baby's leg in order to provide a boost of vitamin K after birth that could just as easily and just as effectively be acquired orally without the antifreeze preservative?

Most folks don't even know they are injecting these things into babies yet. But when those who refuse it produce healthier offspring, it will become apparent in time. Hence the full-court-press to force everyone, even the Amish, to get vaccinated so there is no control group to prove the next generation is being poisoned.

I'm with the conspiracy theorists on this one ... they are batting 1000.

Reminds me of the nursery rime, about Wednesday's child
"Wednesday's child is Full of woe" traditionally implied a sorrowful or difficult life path.

Parents and states are still free to have a differing vaccine schedule. The order just revised the recommendations it did not cement the recommended schedule in statute.

The E/O did not prohibit states or parents from following a different vaccine schedule. All it did was revised the ones recommended by the federal government as well as those should (not shall) be given.

I do object to two inclusions in those vaccinations recommended for all children, the HPV vaccine and the one for Chicken Pox.
