Longtime Dem issues URGENT plea to Republicans: 'Off the deep end'
Fox News ^ | 8/11/2026 | Fox News

Longtime Clinton ally Julian Epstein urged Republicans to take action within the university system to 'save' the country.

Partial transcript- I'm Julian Epstein. Uh, I'm a longtime Democrat. Uh, I was formerly the chief counsel of the House Judiciary Committee and the staff director of the House Oversight Committee for the Democrats.

In terms of the question as to what the Democrats can do right now to reverse course and, um, and shift back towards the center, the first thing is to recognize why the party is going off the deep end here. It's first a question of incompetence. The party infrastructure is crumbling. That's why it can't keep out or fence out the lunatic candidates. The second is cowardice. People like Senator Schumer, who would have never embraced somebody like Syed. I worked with Schumer for years when he was in the House. He always used to tell me you have to say no to the far left. Um, he was very much in the political center. He was for mandatory minimums. He was for, you know, very strict policies on crime and immigration…

They have become cowards. They have become scared to stand up for what's right. They have lost their moral core. And I think until the Democrats stop putting their finger to the wing to the wind with respect to this fervor that's going on with the professional lunatic…extremists. Um, they're not gonna be able to to do anything. But most importantly, I think this is an expression of the failure of postmodern liberalism. Postmodern liberalism has two tenets. One is grow the welfare state, and the other is identity politics. There's plenty of evidence that…these ideas are not ideas that are building the country or building agency. And these morons on the left, who are completely illiterate on economics and history, um, say, well, let's just do more of that. Um, so that's the first thing. The first thing is to reject the idea that we need a growing welfare state. Um, uh, what we need to do is go back to building. This country has always…done what miraculous things and has been a force of liberation in the world…

Epstein has described himself as a Clinton-era Democrat who supports pragmatic, centrist approaches closer to the median voter. In recent years he has sharply criticized the Democratic Party for moving too far left, embracing what he views as radical or “woke” positions, losing its moral center, tolerating antisemitism, showing insufficient support for Israel, and prioritizing redistribution over wealth creation.

“pragmatic, centrist approaches”

Somehow “support for Israel” always seems to get dragged in there.

Lol.

Until Dems realize they have engineered the fall of America since the mid 1960’s they will never change. We have about three generations of well educated kids that can’t read or write a complete sentence and these are the kids to run the country for the next threee generations. I have a very dim view that it can be redirected in time save us.

Maybe Epstein will realize importing the third world was a mistake.

They were fine with the lunatics as long as the USAID money was flowing back into the democrat coffers.

Excellent post—nailed it.

In addition don’t forget the billions of EPA money that was funneled to leftist NGOs.

The gravy train has been stranded on the tracks—at least for now.

This has been my concern for the last year. The Libs go to the extreme left and then float in a “moderate?” dem. The new “moderate” will be the saviour and speak of the evils of the far right and the far left. The AOC squad and Camp Bernie will moderate some and the Independents will think about giving this “new” brand a shot. Then, they’ll resume their march to the left.

The reason why democrats like Schumer are going far left is that he is very old, just like many of other powerful democrats. The people who are really running his office are the young staffers, and they are all radical marxists. So he basically just get guided down the path of radicalism by them.

Biden was the same thing, he was never a radical leftist himself in his more lucid days, but he governed like one because he had become senile while the radical staffers basically ran the White House. Schumer and other old democrats are less extreme versions of of Biden, the are not complete senile yet, but they are fragile and weak and easily directed.

“In addition don’t forget the billions of EPA money that was funneled to leftist NGOs.”

At least 85% of what the US Department of Education does funds the left. Provides paychecks to useless eaters, useless DEI babies, corrupt thieving urban schools systems, via NGOs, governments, grants and other means.

And its not just the US Department of Education, obviously.

So, the guy who coined the phrase "never let a crisis go to waste" is now begging the Republicans to help save the Democrats from themselves?

Republicans should take his advice and do nothing.

Yeah, ever since PDJT put an end to USAID the progs have been running YT adds begging for money, any amount, down to ONE DOLLAR.

They are on life support and the O2 bottle is empty.

THEREFORE > Expect to see MASSIVE and ridiculous cheating attempts by the progs.

Lawsuits over IDs, signatures, etc etc.

Observers will be thrown out, cardboard over the windows, all the usual BS PLUS screaming about counting deadlines, postmarks (they forge those), pretty much everything down to the color of the butterfly’s out front.

They belong on a chain gang.

“It’s first a question of incompetence.”

Incompetence is the life-blood of the Democrat Party. Especially when it comes at the taxpayer’s expense.
