Radical Overhaul: Hakeem Jeffries Vows to Nuke the Supreme Court As We Know It
Red State ^ | August 13, 2026 | Bob Hoge

Posted on 08/13/2026 10:10:24 AM PDT by Red Badger

For 157 years, the number of justices on the nation’s highest court has remained at nine following the Judiciary Act of 1869. Although the number is not enshrined in the Constitution, it’s become the norm despite President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s unsuccessful attempt to pack the court in 1937.

But House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) would change all that if American voters give him that power and hand both houses of Congress back to the Democrats in November. In fact, there’s no telling what he and his Dem fellow extremists would do, because, according to him, all options would be on the table.

When you’re not winning enough games, change the rules.

During an interview at the National Black Journalism Conference in Atlanta Thursday, Hakeem the Bad Dream didn’t seem to care what happened to the Supreme Court, as long as it was tilted in the Democrats' favor:

He wants to put the fate of SCOTUS in the hands of Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-8), one of the most viciously partisan congresscritters, a man whose main claim to fame is that he served as lead House impeachment manager during the Democrats’ second failed attempt in 2021 to oust the duly elected president (Trump). He also served alongside former Republican Reps. Liz Cheney (WY-AL) and the perpetually crying Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) on the notoriously flawed J6 Committee.

Hardly someone you would want deciding the future of our judiciary.

This is what we’ll get in 2027 and beyond if the Democrats win in the midterms:

In my view, dramatic Supreme Court reform is necessary.

And, you know, I'm gonna leave it to the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, led by Jamie Raskin, who will be the next chair, [if] the American people give us the ability to govern on their behalf and the majority.

And there's a variety of different options that are on the table, and I think that we can't foreclose any single one of them.

Believe them when they tell you who they are.

The Democrats want to radically transform the country and spend the next two years trying to impeach their boogeyman, Donald Trump, for a third time. In the modern era, it seems like every election is the most crucial one ever, but in this case, I think it’s actually true. The midterms could usher in an extremist wave the likes of which we’ve never seen in America — or we could nip this disastrous movement in the bud.

House Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries… Now that is the stuff of nightmares.

That's because we're cowards. We love our stuff too much. We prefer peaceful slavery over dangerous freedom.

The whakos won in NYC and all he heard was “You’re next.”
Trump should ‘invite’ him to join our side where he’ll be treated better.

If the GOP had any balls (they don’t) and cared for America rather than themselves (they don’t), they would expand the court now and have Trump nominate the open seats. Because that is EXACTLY what the left is going to do the moment they can do it.

What a radical tells you he is going to do something, believe him.

Even some of FDR’s fellow Democrats opposed him when he tried to pack the court back in 1937. So the attempt failed. But today’s Democrats are nothing like the Democrats from back then.

Now a ray of sunshine: Jeffries will have to wait until 2029 at least. Otherwise, it would be Trump who’d be appointing the additional justices.

Wouldn’t that be a hoot!

Where courts are put in Democrat hands to essentially appoint, such as Washington state, the results are horrible.

Court Packing: Once you've open that door, there's no putting the genie back in the bottle.

Every time the majority party flips, the packing will ratchet up until there are more judges than congressmen.

Congress has the power to change the number of USSC justices.
The U.S. Constitution does not set a fixed number.

BRAVE AI:

The countries with the largest supreme courts, measured by the number of justices, are China and Austria.

China: The Supreme People’s Court has approximately 400 justices, who supervise lower courts, try national cases, and issue binding legal interpretations.

Austria: The Supreme Court (Oberste Gerichtshof) has 58 justices organized into 17 specialized panels for criminal, civil, and antitrust matters.

How long until the expanded court rules that they all need mansions on golf courses and their own military brigades to guard them from the masses?

An expanded and uncheckable Supreme Court would essentially make Congress and the President complely powerless. This guy actually wants to get rid of his own constitutional power.

They don’t think very deep do they?

Trump is missing an opportunity here. On Monday announce he is expanding the Supreme Court to 14 justices. Submit a list of five new nominees to the Senate for approval. Get some popcorn and sit and enjoy a few days of the leftholes and mediawhores foam at the mouth as they spew their hypocritical rage. Then next week, say fine. You’re right. Let’s keep it at 9. Then introduce the proposed 28th amendment that says that Supreme Court stays at nine justices.
