Trump's mail-in voting restrictions blocked nationwide by federal judge
Axios ^ | August 11, 2026 | Rebecca Falconer

Posted on 08/13/2026 8:21:43 AM PDT by Red Badger

A federal judge on Tuesday expanded an earlier block on part of President Trump's executive order seeking to tighten rules for mail-in voting ahead of November's elections.

Why it matters: The ruling freezes a key piece of Trump's attempted overhaul of mail-in voting for all U.S. states. A previous ruling in a separate case had limited a block for the 23 Democratic states that sued over the president's order.

* Trump's executive order had enabled the USPS to refuse to deliver ballots to states that did not cooperate with the Postal Service on preventing what the administration has claimed is rampant voting by noncitizens.

* The order had included directives for states to work with the USPS to create lists of confirmed U.S. citizens who were eligible to vote so the Postal Service would not deliver ballots to would-be voters not on the list.

* U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani ruled back in June that Congress had not given the USPS authority to regulate mail-in voting.

What's new:

Talwani's preliminary injunction on Tuesday bars the federal government from enforcing the order's mail-voting provisions for the Nov. 3 midterms or any earlier federal election.

This includes refusing to transmit mail-in or absentee ballots and pursuing regulations outlined in the order. It does not prevent the government from issuing nonbinding USPS guidance on ballot-mail envelopes.

Zoom in:

In her ruling, Talwani said the order was "causing confusion and threatening both increasing chaos and an erosion of trust in our democracy."

* She said protecting voters "heavily outweighs the executive's attempt to unconstitutionally insert itself into the domain of election regulation."

* With less than 90 days until the midterms, Talwani said an injunction was critical to prevent the administration "from changing election rules on the eve of the election."

* Representatives for the White House and USPS did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment. Flashback: Federal judge blocks Trump's mail-in voting order

Meanwhile, they just ignore what SCOTUS has ruled about District Judges doing injunctions outside of their jurisdiction. smh

God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
“How long will you judge unjustly
and show partiality to the wicked?”
They have neither knowledge nor understanding,
they walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

Psalm 82:1-2,5

There is nothing sacred about preserving mail-in ballots, but there is a lot accursed about their application on a widespread basis.

“her nomination was confirmed by a 94–0 vote.”

Far Left at every step of her life.

Why have Republicans at all?

Indira Talwani. Maybe a Mayflower descendant. Or possibly Scots-Irish with forbears that pioneered Kentucky.

If the Obama worshipers allow free and fair elections in the USA again they know they will lose. It must be stopped at all costs.

I didn't think these chumps could do this any more.

Every single person who supports the agenda of the Left is reliably a domestic enemy of this Republic and should be treated as such.

That they are not automatically treated as such demonstrates the peril that the Republic is in.

"causing confusion and threatening both increasing chaos and an erosion of trust in our democracy."

Now that is RICH!! "erosion of trust" -- I can't stop laughing at that.

Exactly true. This is simply the point of their spear, the judiciary, which they have captured to such a degree it is reliably an arm of the Left in the same way the Media is. And it is being orchestrated and run by this man:

If there is a more typical rat-faced ideological Leftist thug in politics, I cannot think of anyone.

She is ignoring the Supreme Court’s ruling.

It’s a delaying tactic...........

She really said "our democracy"? That tells me all I need to know about her and her ruling.
