Russia launched a massive strike on Odesa overnight, according to Ukrainian emergency services.
The strikes caused extensive damage and fires in several districts of the city, they said.
Preliminary reports indicate eight people were injured.
A block of flats and two houses were set alight.
Meanwhile, in Kharkiv, firefighters rescued seven people from the upper floors of a high-rise building after Russian strikes caused floors to collapse between the 7th and 10th floors.

Massive strikes aren’t what they used to be. In March 1945, a single day’s work killed 100K Tokyo residents. The toll was higher than both A-bomb attacks combined, although radiation sickness was to increase the A-bomb number somewhat higher, overall.
Ahhhh, total war isn’t what it used to be. Napalm raids on Japan happened because throughout the course of the war the USAAF used “Precision Daylight Bombing” (which was ineffective). The British used “Area Bombing” (including civilian sites).
Overtime the British system became more “useful” to the allies.
Had the US and Israel decimated Iran’s infrastructure the Iranians would have given up by now but when you resort to short, “measured” steps, you ultimately lose.
Total war was the answer.

There are also rules and conventions that came after WW2 especially civilian targets.
Correction: No one in the West has an appetite for this...
because the “west” is a bunch of kitties.
These reports of massive strikes resulting in single digit casualties are not helpful.
People across Europe are still alive who remember when massive strike meant at least 10K-20K dead.
So much for rules and conventions. The U.S. was in involved in the slave trade during and after WWII. Check out the Sec of State’s book Frankly Speaking where he tries to put a good light on it. And then Iran:

Yes. Things have changed. We had the Nuremberg trials where the second greatest mass murdering regime sat in judgment of the third greatest mass murdering regime. An attempt to deindustrialize Germany that resulted in the collapse of the European economies that depended on German spare parts. By 1947 France and Italy were about the elect communist governments. Governments do what they want to do. No rules. The media covers for them. No one believes government statements coming about Iran and Ukraine.

Today's typical US weapons' CEP is ~10 feet, and some are much more accurate than that.
In WWII, we had to carpet bomb whole cities to knock out their railroads, bridges & factories.
Today the US can put one bomb through the window of the apartment of the leader we intend to decapitate.

Bottom line: US precision weapons make rules and conventions easier to follow than in WWII, but enemies who use civilian human shields to protect their military installations can still expect to suffer civilian casualties.

I reject the term radical Islam, because what is attributed to them as being radical is simply orthodox Islam, what the koran calls for and trying to believe otherwise is and has been dangerous, ask Jefferson he found out and we have forgotten what he learned.
Likewise couching Russia as a Christian nation camouflages what they really are. Hundreds of years, like Islam are there to see if one chooses to.
