Killer of Pearl River teen headed back to prison after multiple parole violations

The man convicted in the 1980 murder of a Rockland County teenager is headed back to prison after repeatedly violating his parole.

Robert McCain served 40 years in prison for the killing of 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky in Pearl River before being released on parole five years ago.

Since his release, officials say McCain has violated parole three times.

Last year, McCain pleaded guilty to forcible touching stemming from an incident at a park in Cortlandt.

A few months later, authorities say he admitted to petit larceny in Peekskill.

As a result, McCain will spend another 10 months behind bars.

His current release date is May 1.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day criticized the prospect of McCain's eventual release.

In a statement, Day said McCain "should never be released" and called him "a clear and present danger to our community, and public safety."

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Nevermind abolishing ICE. How about abolishing parole boards. His partner in this crime, Richy LaBarbera also violated parole last year and is back in prison. Since NY lacks the balls to keep scumbags like this behind bars for life let alone execute them, maybe gen pop justice will kick in once and for all.

The piece of filth should have been executed 40 years ago.

Execution solves many problems and future recidivism. If only.

Some paroled convicts have given up trying to create and maintain a normal, legal lifestyle outside of prison, and they would much prefer just staying in lock up.

I had a Nephew like that. Last I heard, he had been released somewhere in Kentucky. Then he stopped all communication with the family. This was about 25 years ago. No one has heard from him, or at least, no one admits to having heard from him. His Mom, my Sister didn’t want him living with her, due to his violent temper.

These animals cannot be rehabilitated. Life in prison without parole is the only solution.

The judge who let him loose should serve his term.

“Since his release, officials say McCain has violated parole three times.”

…you’d think once would be enough.

Guy is probably institutionalized, unable to function on the outside. Probably intentionally violating so he can go back to where is able to function.

Here is the transcript of his parole hearing from 2019. He was denying that he committed the crime right up to then. His parole was denied in 2019 but then granted the next time.

Why did it take THREE parole violations to send him back to prison?
