They will blame the Republicans, Trump and the Far Right for every one of their failures and their base will eat it up..............
They won’t fight fraud because:
1. They don’t want to appear “racist”
2. It keeps a lot of their base employed (or funded)
3. A significant percentage of the fraud is kicked back to the Democratic party and its politicians.
The article doesn’t even mention the billions in fraud. Like it doesn’t exist.
And it won't matter if there isn't any money there now. They'll just take it from businesses and the wealthy before they have a chance to move their wealth to another state or overseas.

WAY back in the day when i was a tyke, and the propaganda media kept touting that the Soviet Union had free universal health care, i thought that was really cool ... but then i grew up and realized that it might be free, but there wasn’t any ....

The program is also beset by fraud:

It is fiscally unsustainable when you have a very large, growing, destitute population.

Exactly as Margaret Thatcher predicted - running out of other people’s money as businesses and productive, taxpaying citizens flee the state.
If Newsom had a money press, you know he’d use it, as it is, the feds are cutting of his money supply:
