Last week, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham used her platform to defend women’s sports from the infiltration of men claiming to be women.
This week, Caitlin Clark was given a chance to do the same thing and passed.
Clark is young, but she is far from naive. She not only has the most endorsement deals in the WNBA – by far. But she is also among the top endorsing athletes in the world.
That likely has far more to do with her reticence to stake out an opinion on trans athletes than her youth.

Sophie Cunningham had her back when it counted. But she doesn’t have Sophie’s back when it’s needed.
Not the first time Clark has shown cowardice. God gave her talent but no spine
Let me speculate. Pepsi or Nike pressure.
It takes a strong person to stand up against a lynch mob.
There are not many people like that.

Sophie Cunningham has a black belt I’ve read. As all this antagonism comes to a head let’s be confident Sophie can handle herself.

Caitlin Clark works for product sponsors. She’s does what they tell her, nothing else.
As much as Clark is getting beat up on by actual female competitors, I gotta wonder how she’d feel on this subject if a trans-’woman’ WNBA player went after her like that.
Never fall in love with a celebrity. They will break your heart every time.
I’ve watched some of these fouls on youtube. These catfights are turning them into men and the crowd eats it up. Good marketing. We’re being played.
Caitlin is kind of cowardly. That is why she gets beat up all the time. She lacks pluck.

I guess Caitlin is thinking ahead to when some 6’7” 300 lb man pretending to be a woman is allowed to play in the WNBA. After the physical assaults she’s already endured on the court, maybe she figures its best to keep her mouth shut about “trans women”.
Catlin isn’t a sellout or coward. She has sponsors and needs to be careful what she says because works for them. They are her employer.
No sponsors means no money for her.
“It’s for the leagues and governing bodies to work with their athletes to find solutions. My focus is on basketball,” Clark replied.Her quote.
Thus following the Michael Jordon rule: avoid alienating half of your customer base.
And also following the Laura Ingraham rule: "Shut up and sing!"
Stalin said that quantity has a quality all its own. Meaning here, Cunningham’s black belt won’t do her much good if she’s jumped by three “teammates” in the locker room.
A poster at #11 (hey, it was you DIRTYSECRET) mentioned that perhaps we are being played here. It’s an interesting theory. And if true, it’s working.
The WNBA is getting attention now that it didn’t used to get.
That's exactly what the modern sports industry has become -- for players, teams, and entire leagues.
