Massachusetts Democrats recently sponsored a Senate bill creating a “permanent” government commission “on the status of people who practice Islam,” which would communicate with the government on how legislation affects Muslims and recommend Muslims for government positions.
The Senate committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight reported the bill, No. 2134 “favorably” and referred it to the Joint Committee on Rules, which referred it to the committee on Senate Ways and Means. That committee consists of a majority of democrats.
The commission proposed by the bill would accomplish eight different tasks, including serving as a liaison between the Muslim American community and the government, researching “Islamophobia,” recommending Muslim Americans for positions in the government and undertaking “activities designed to enable the commonwealth to realize the full benefit of the skills, talents and cultural heritage of American Muslims.”
“The commission shall … [e]valuate the commonwealth’s hate crime statutes and whether any amendments would better protect residents from Islamophobia and other similar forms of hatred,” the bill says.
The commission would consist of 11 people: two people appointed by the governor, one by the attorney general, one by the speaker of the House of Representatives, one by the president of the senate, two by the state secretary, two by the senate chair of the Massachusetts general court’s joint committee on racial equity, civil rights and inclusion, and two by the house chair of the same committee. Each member would serve for three years.
“Members of the commissions shall reside in the commonwealth who have demonstrated a commitment to the Muslim American community,” the bill reads.
Critics of the bill on X say it would unjustly discriminative against other religions by prioritizing Muslims.
Earlier this year, Massachusetts courts heard a case to uphold a lower court’s ruling that blocked the Quincy, Massachusetts mayor from building ten-foot-tall statues of Saint Michael the Archangel and Saint Florian, Catholic religious icons, in front of his city.
The Norfolk Superior Court judge had ruled in October that the action violated Article 3 of the Massachusetts Declaration of Rights, which states, “all religious sects and denominations … shall be equally under the protection of the law; and no subordination of any one sect or denomination to another shall ever be established by law.”

Isn’t Massachusetts the state with that famous community college - Harvard? Sounds like their statewide intellectual level is commensurate with that.

This is most difficult to believe. I have to keep reminding myself that these are democrats we’re talking about.
One thing that I’ve always reluctantly admired the Democrats for, was their ability to play the long game.
From the immigration act of 1965 that sought to slowly change the ethnic balance of the United States, to the slow intrusion of leftist philosophy into our academic circles, our media, and our culture as a whole.
Their control of the national discussion, their ability to isolate and render impotent the GOP, etc. They have always played to win and they always played the long game like it or not
But their current deal with the devil, as they join hands with Islam I find extremely odd and out of character, because it seems quite obvious that the democrat/Muslim union is an example in progress of the frog swimming the scorpion across the river only to get stung in the middle of the river.

how is this not a massive violation of the 1st amendment? this is establishing preference for a religion.
Sounds like a PR agency that represents muslims - which non-muslims will pay for.
Might even sponsor muslim appreciation classes at the elementary school level.

Obviously the Muslims are not on board with women’s rights including abortion (murder), LGBT stuff, blacks and hispanics—all key Democrat constituencies.
At this point the Democrat ideology has gone full suicide mode—and their only plan seems to be to try to take the rest of us down with them.
