RELATIVE ATTRACTION: Troy Jackson’s (Maine Dem Senate candidate) Longtime Lover Is His Second Cousin [NOT SATIRE]
The Maine Wire ^ | July 30, 2026 | Steve Robinson

Posted on 07/31/2026 3:58:42 PM PDT by DoodleBob

…Allagash tipsters and genealogical records confirm that Troy Jackson’s longtime significant other, Lana Pelletier — his high school sweetheart and the mother of his two adult sons, Chace and Camden — is, in fact, his second cousin by blood.

Jackson and Pelletier share the same great-grandparents: Thomas Pelletier and Edith Thibodeau. Thomas and Edith’s daughter Albertine was Troy’s grandmother; their son Louis Sr. was Lana’s grandfather. That makes Troy and Lana second cousins on the Pelletier line.

First cousins share a pair of grandparents. They inherit, on average, about 12.5 percent of their DNA from the same recent ancestors. That shared genetic material raises the risk of recessive genetic disorders in any children roughly twofold compared with the general population — from a baseline of about 2–3 percent for major birth defects to roughly 4–6 percent…Second cousins, by contrast, share a pair of great-grandparents. Their coefficient of relationship is only about 3.125 percent — roughly a quarter of the first-cousin figure. Geneticists regard the elevated risk of recessive disorders as negligible compared with the risk for closer cousins.

Maine imposes no special restrictions on second-cousin marriage; it is treated like any other union between consenting adults. Jackson and Pelletier fall squarely into this second category — should they ever decide to formally get hitched.

If Pelletier, as merely the mother of Jackson’s adult children, is exempt from inclusion in the financial disclosures in a way that Collins’ husband is not, then the knitted family tree could engage in all kinds of clever accounting tricks to artificially impoverish Jackson as a way of maintaining his working-class image.

For the record, you can marry _and “have relations” with - your Second cousin legally in all 50 States.

While not applicable to the Jackson saga, the legality of First Cousin marriages varies by State.

Like with Second cousin marriage and “relations,” you can also get your face tattooed everywhere (except NC).

Both may be legal.

They’re still both freakish and messed up.

Troy Jackson. Maybe the people in Maine can relate to to this guy.

“Troy Jackson’s Longtime Lover Is His Second Cousin”

so what? ... no laws anywhere in the USA that prohibit 2nd cousin marriages, since 2nd cousins share no more than 3.5% of their DNA ...

Seriously, does any Dem staff in Maine vet their candidates?

First, a Nazi pedo.

Now we get Deliverance.

Or, worse yet (or good for our side assuming Jackson gets trashed in Nov) maybe they DO vet their candidates and think “ah, it doesn’t matter….Dems will vote for a warm bottle of spit over any Republican. We just need to raise money.”

Is Troy Jackson famous (or maybe infamous) somewhere in the lower 48?

For those wondering second cousins mean they shared a common great-grandparent.

Abortion is also legal in 50 states.

And in some states parents can pay for surgery that turns Johnny into Mary.

Letting the government’s permission be a North Star for morality is fraught with peril.

It wasn't satire when this article was written, but it is now:

I dunno. I never heard of this guy. Or Platner for that matter.

Frankly, the only person from Maine who is famous in my book is Stephen King (no pun intended). And he’s a loon.

Whoda thunk?

When researching this issue, I found that a bill to repeal the ban on first-cousin marriage in Minnesota was introduced by Phyllis Kahn in 2003, but it died in committee. Republican Minority Leader Marty Seifert criticized the bill in response, saying - and this is a keeper - it would “turn us into a cold Arkansas”

It is interesting that they have produced two (now adult) children without ever having the benefit of marriage. That for me that actually matters more than the second cousin business. If you want to have children with someone and they’re not good enough to marry I see that as a serious problem. A character defect on both sides

I know people will argue that it’s legal so who cares….but when the Bee is on the offensive, you know it’s a lost cause.

This is priceless.

Longtime Maine resident Stephen King, who famously wrote a story where a bunch of young boys essentially band together to assault a girl, said, "Jackson is the obvious choice for this election. He's not like that monster, Trump, who has never slept with his cousin."

On top of that, both have a grandparent named “O’Leary”. It is a common name, but I wonder if the O’Learys are also related to each other?
