The federal government is now acting as regulator, customer, financier, and shareholder. Decisions involving contracts, trade restrictions, permits, and additional subsidies can affect the value of its holdings. Competitors have reason to question whether the playing field is level. And if a portfolio company falters, Washington will have an added incentive to protect its investment with more taxpayer support.

Yes, it is in both its forms, with little but a fine line between a contract and a stake.
The historic tendency is to socialize risk and privatize profits. This has it both ways.
This is not the proper role of government.
Its basically back to picking winners and losers.
It’s a bit closer to fascism perhaps but (aside from critical defense?) it’s still quite worrisome, imho.
We need to scale government back not keep letting it take over our liberties, economy, goods, and services.
think it starts with ‘f’, not ‘s’.
Not liking this ..
To some degree, who is the consumer and who is the investor?
I’d rather our government invest in local companies, than give away billions to Egypt etc.
Maybe just fascism.
how about we do neither?
Biden would have bought into Baskin Robbins and Blue Bunny.
This should not be allowed. It’s worse than insider trading.
What’s next? Government owned grocery stores that won’t change prices more frequently than every 30 days?
Used to be called “Industrial Policy.”
I’d rather they do neither and cut the budget.
But that’s not in the cards.
Daystrum for the masses. 🦠
Revelation 13:16-18
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
I have mixed feelings also. But lets be honest the government IS THE ECONOMY. It is not what is good for GM is good for the country.

Read the above book. pick just one chapter. That is us.
Trump has been removing a lot of regulation and shrinking the govt. The trend is good in many ways.
The govt ownership we see here so far are on projects needed a different relationship. The TVA was a good example of business/govt cooperation. There were others. After WWII we moved back to more private initiative, so that has happened.
Ordinarily I’d agree, but looking at the companies involved, I’m okay with it.
All the companies are energy, mineral, semiconductors, computing and rocketry. We live in a world of bad actors and we need to protect vital industries lest foreign actors acquire them or destroy them.
It’s what happened with the rare earth processing industry. We used to lead the world in that. Then Chinese companies subsidized by their government basically drove all our rare earth companies out of business, to the point that it gave China an almost monopoly on global rare earth production. We can’t afford to let that happen with energy or semiconductors again.
The purpose for this is of a national interest, like it or not. To bring back production of items as quickly as possible for our national interest. Yes it may be a slippery slope. But if we don’t bring this production back to our shores, what will happen?
It is another one of those complex situation with no easy answers as some claim here.
Knowing Trump and his past actions, I would say there is an exit plan, but that does not mean it happens that way.
Remember all our information is coming from the lying media. Do not let them influence you.
