Yemen's Houthi rebels claim to have attacked the port city of Jazan, Saudi Arabia with ballistic missiles. Saudi authorities have not confirmed the strike, but a Saudi civil defense alert was issued for Jazan on early Saturday and bystander videos purporting to show fire damage are circulating on social media.
NASA FIRMS fire monitoring data shows five substantial thermal anomalies - infrared signatures not present in previous time periods - located in the eastern half of the Jazan refinery, all within the last 3-6 hours. FIRMS infrared detections may stem from natural or routine events, like flaring, but the new cluster at Jazan is large in scale and has not occurred before at that location.

Almost seven weeks ago, the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran to start another Middle Eastern war, coming after earlier joint efforts in June 2025. Two weeks into the conflict, the U.S. declared that it had achieved ‘space superiority’, taking out Iran’s domestic orbiting assets and capabilities to support them. However, that hasn’t stopped Iran from obtaining information from space.
According to a report from the Financial Times on April 15th, China-based Earth Eye Co (沐美星空), full business name Beijing Mumei Starry Sky Technology Co Ltd (北京沐美星空科技有限公司), reached an agreement with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force to use a satellite and ground stations owned by Emposat (航天驭星), a Chinese satellite tracking, telemetry, and control company. Both enterprises operate within China’s commercial space sector.
The satellite used by the Guard Corps is claimed to be TEE-01B (地球之眼1号卫星), a 112-kilogram remote sensing satellite with a resolution of 52 centimeters in panchromatic mode or 208 centimeters in multispectral mode per pixel in a 14.8-kilometer swath image, launched in June 2024 by Galactic Energy’s Ceres-1. Access to TEE-01B was said to have come via an on-orbit delivery agreement, a service the company does offer to hand over a satellite once its systems a verfied to be healthy.
The total paid by the Guard Corps to Earth Eye Co as part of the agreement to use TEE-01B and Emposat ground stations was stated to be around 250 million Yuan (36.66 million United States Dollars, as of April 15th), an impressive bounty for just one tiny spacecraft. That deal was closed in September 2024, almost eighteen months before the current conflight began.
As for what TEE-01B is up to for its Iranian operators, the Financial Times stated it has been imaging military sites across the Middle East that house or support U.S. and Israeli forces, per leaked information obtained by the outlet, as well as industrial infrastructure. Those images are then used to analyze struck locations with before and after photographs.
As for why the Guard Corps would obtain a Chinese-made satellite that communicates through non-Iranian ground stations, a former CIA analyst told the outlet:
“Iran’s satellite ground stations, which were hit in 2025 and 2026, can be hit very easily by missiles from a thousand miles away. You can’t just hit a Chinese ground station located in another country.”
Of course they war with each other. They've warred with each other for hundreds of years before we decided to stand on the fire ant pile and 'nation build'.

I'm learning more and more Freepers had no idea that Obama's administration helped the Saudis other Gulf monarchies invade Yemen and try to install a hand picked dictator (picked by the Gulf monarchies).
They invaded back in 2015.
Support for Saudi-Led Coalition In March 2015, President Barack Obama authorized logistical and intelligence support for Saudi Arabia and GCC partners launching military campaigns against the Houthi movement. Although U.S. forces did not initially conduct direct airstrikes on Houthi targets, they established a Joint Planning Cell to coordinate efforts and assisted in identifying missile threats. This support included air refueling and targeting intelligence, which critics argued made the U.S. complicit in coalition strikes causing significant civilian casualties.
This invasion included a sea blockade that led to starvation and UN estimates of over 300,000 dead (compare that to the headline ink spilled for 1/5th of that in Gaza).
The most significant 2019 incident involving a Houthi drone attack on Saudi Arabia occurred on September 14, 2019, when drones struck the Abqaiq oil processing facility and the Khurais oil field, operated by Saudi Aramco. The Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the strikes, citing retaliation for the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen.
The attack caused massive fires, damaged critical infrastructure, and temporarily reduced Saudi Arabia’s oil production by approximately 5 million barrels per day, or about half of the kingdom’s total output and 5% of global supply.
This lead to de-escalation (UAE bailed on the adventure in 2019), and ceasefire ultimately in 2022.
Saudi Arabia, and the other gulf monarchies, don't have the means to defend their golden geese infrastructure from Iran and the Houthis. So if attacks against Iran can be credibly retaliated the people in the region have the most reason to try and de-escalate.

Nonsense. They can look at a map.
For all the people who have no background on this:
1. The Houthis are puppets of the Iranians and have been for a long time.
2. Iran has been public about using the Houthis to close the Red Sea to oil traffic if the US keeps attacking them. This counters the Saudi use of pipelines to shuttle oil out of the Gulf to Red Sea ports.
3. The Saudis and Houthis have been trading missile attacks (including on refineries) and other military activity off and on for years. If the Saudis didn't "wipe out" the Houthis the last ten times, it won't happen here either.
