America’s left-wing insurgency relies on billionaire donors and a highly credentialed voter base.
Socialism is au courant in America today, though in its 21st-century form, it is less a rebellion of the proletariat than a by-product of the capitalist elite. Through its continued efforts to decrease the returns to human labour and by financing the very groups and ideologies increasingly dedicated to its overthrow, socialism has found fertile ground.
Today, more than one in four Americans waves the red flag. And no wonder. The oligarchs have engaged in increasingly brazen spending on themselves – epitomised by Jeff Bezos’s profligacy – while the widely unpopular AI boom they’ve ushered in seems to be leaving everyone else behind. Amid record profits, Big Tech firms have cut some 240,000 jobs since 2024. Amazon alone cut 30,000 roles in the past year.
Overall, productivity is rising but wages are not. A small group of elite tech workers at AI firms just cashed in $14 billion, but that will not be much comfort to those now unemployed. As economist Gad Levanon notes, ‘Ownership of future profit streams is concentrating far faster than employment, output or people’.
The pattern of rapacity is magnified by the Trump administration capitalising on its power, particularly through its dealings in the Middle East and its cryptocurrency speculation. The Bidens may have been scummy, but their corruption was of the six-figure kind as opposed to seven, eight or more.
The Big Tech elites tend to back progressives, but their vision of a roboticised future – where work...

We need to proceed as if the system were completely broken, because it is.
With wealth disparity the highest ever in history and many in the younger generation believing they’ll never own a house it’s not surprising socialism is gaining in popularity.
“There is no saving the left. There is only saving America from them”. Sasha Stone.
In the never outdated movie I Was a Communist For the FBI (based on the nonfiction memoir book by the actual undercover agent Matt Cvetic) along with protest signs “No Room For Fascists On This Campus” there was a question about how the various secret elite traitors could have luxury cars, lavish apartments and houses and jewelry and furs. Answer: Those of us who contribute the most to the downtrodden workers being freed by overthrowing the US government deserve rewards more than they deserve them. Also, for use of the “n” word while supposedly championing the black people in unions and at urban riots, “We have to refrain in public but after the revolution the n———s will serve us in other ways and we can call them what they are.”
All we have to do is to shut down the Ivy League except keep their medical schools open.
99% solved.
America’s left-wing insurgency relies on billionaire donors_______________
Left wing insurgency is like mafia.
If yuu do not support them, they will make your like miserable.
So most of those billionaires just buy these pest off by donations.
She has got it....
Socialism is the ultimate quest for power over every aspect of human life. You do not find a dirt farmer dreaming in that way, he has enough on his plate as it is. No downtrodden factory worker wants to "control the method of production" he just wants a pay raise and a bit more time off. Maybe equipment that is less likely to fold, spindle or mutilate him.
It is never the lower classes who are leading the way, always the wealthy but not quite as powerful as they would like to be.
It has always been this way and probably always will be this way.
You can tell because the people they immediately have on their target list are not the "elite" or "wealthy" but those on the lower end of the scale who have a bit more but not enough to defend themselves from the horde of criminals recruited out of prisons that the socialist unleash on them.
Starting with Marx himself.
It's a tool they use to eliminate the middle class, or "bourgeois," as Karl derisively called them.
