Former Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) is making a run for the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) seat after his death, Sanford announced Thursday morning.
“Our country is at a financial tipping point, and I can’t sit on the sidelines while Washington adds a trillion dollars to the debt every 100 days,” Sanford wrote on social media Thursday.
“I’ve spent my entire time in politics fighting this fight, and I’m running for U.S. Senate to keep the American dream alive for our sons, my grandson, and those you love. Join us,” he added.
Sanford’s post also featured a video of himself in which he said Graham’s “death is a reminder to all of us of how short and precious life is.”
“My own dad got Lou Gehrig’s disease when I was in high school, and this notion of all of us having just a little time has always hit me hard. We’re stewards of our lives and the things that we love for just a short time,” he added.
Sanford served South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District between 1995 and 2001, and then again from 2013 to 2019. He was also the Palmetto State’s governor from 2003 to 2011.

Shouldn’t he take a hike?
off a short pier
I think he already did.....
Feel the excitement...
Moronic. You Brits sure have strange heroes in the political world of the US of A.
Maybe you should admit you picked a bunch of fake losers for idols.
Going to go out on a limb and guess that Sanford voted on more than one spending bill that added to the debt. That's not to say that the debt isn't a real problem. Rather, Congress will not solve it, they only make it worse.
The DungHill tries to pick a Senator for the GOP....again.
Oh my, oh my, oh my, lol.
Does he have a Latina gal pal this time around ?

Maria Belen Chapur, his gal pal from last time.
His Argentinian girlfriend won’t be an asset after how the Argentine team did in the final match of the World Cup. Piers Morgan said they disgraced themselves.
Whatever happened with the Argentine woman?
What's his plan?
Pull votes away from Real Conservatives so Lindsey Graham's Center-Left sister can win?
She is apparently still in Argentina.
Interesting guy, he parked his car in South Carolina and then backpacked the Pan American Highway in a few days and ended up in Argentina.
The United States national debt reached zero for the only and last time on January 8, 1835, under President Andrew Jackson. People don't get reelected to Congress based on how much they have cut spending. It clearly is a systemic problem. Only a Balanced Budget Amendment has a chance of fixing this. Only a Convention Of States has a chance of creating one.
Interesting if you want to elect a proven loser with the mentality of a 14 year old love sick teen girl.
That means he will finally have to get off the Appalachian Trail!
Another example of why the 17th Amendment should be repealed!
Don’t seriously the SC legislature would consider him!
The fact Lindsey Graham’s sister can just be plucked out of her home and dropped into the U.S. Senate with no issues makes me think very little of the “job” of being a Senator.
