Sacramento County paid a $1.62 million settlement to the family of a man who died after a police chase, after law enforcement officials allegedly blocked paramedics from rendering aid for two and a half hours. The October agreement settles part of a federal lawsuit regarding the 2021 death of Amelian Houff, 20, of Hayward. The case against the Sacramento Police Department, which is also named as a defendant in the suit, is still ongoing.

When I worked for a company buying loans during the s and l crises, there were quite a few loans with these collections as collateral.

“… after law enforcement officials allegedly blocked paramedics from rendering aid for two and a half hours.”

Maybe the county could not explain that one.

I need to know more about this before I take sides. Did the cops believe there were explosives in the car? Was the guy already dead? If the above is true, there had better have been a pretty good reason for denying emergency medical treatment.

So he burglarized a pot store, sped away at over 100 mph, and jumped his car into a tree several feet off the ground. Then the cops took a long time figuring out if he was armed and had to call in a drone to take a look.

I looks like they have a policy of not letting the medics in until they are sure they will be safe, which is difficult with the criminal and car up a tree. I don't like just sending the first ambulance away, and the article didn't have a reason for it. Joking about The Dukes of Hazzard probably didn't help the cop's case.

The car was stuck up in a tree and the cops didn’t have a clear view inside.

The officer in charge felt that Houff might be armed and he wanted to get a drone shot to ensure the safety of the paramedics...protocol actually. Shame this negroe was in the middle of turning his life around too. But even the best get “HUNG UP” (like in a tree?) hahahahahahaha Ghetto lottery winner here!
