The average life expectancy for a Russian soldier entering battle in Ukraine is 20 to 30 minutes, Central Intelligence Agency director John Ratcliffe said on Wednesday.
Ratcliffe was speaking at the Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit, where he attributed the deadly conditions to Ukraine's combat drones equipped with AI.
"What I would say is, our intelligence is consistent with some of the open-source reporting you may have seen in Ukraine," Ratcliffe said. "So the average life expectancy of a Russian recruit, right now, arriving on the battlefield in Ukraine, is estimated to be between 20 and 30 minutes."
"And that's because AI-powered drones have gotten to be such specialized, low-cost killing machines. And it's why we're now four and a half years into that conflict," Ratcliffe added.
Russia's defense ministry press team did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside regular business hours by Business Insider

How disgusting that Putin is sending others to die for his ego and ambition.
Even if someone wants to justify his actions (which I definitely don’t) he’s made a mess of it, and not just lately this is for over four years.
Russia is a major nuclear power that wants to be a superpower. You don’t get bogged down along your own border for years and now the homeland is being bombed more and more.
He allowed this to go on so long that Ukraine revolutionized drone warfare and turned the front into the modern version of WW1 trench warfare.
Not the US or China or Japan, friggin Ukraine.
Re “… AI-powered drones have gotten to be such specialized, low-cost killing machines…”
Unreal how quickly that tech has been weaponized… and how morale-shattering it can be.
Time to brush up on sporting clays and shotgunning…
That ain't no clay pigeon, son. That'll be the one "lost" bird you'll regret.

“How disgusting that Putin is sending others to die for his ego and ambition.”
I’m afraid Putin’s only goal is to stay alive and in power. He has created and then destroyed several would-be successors. The idea being that if there’s a ready successor, he’ll be eliminated. Currently, when he dies there’s going to be a free-for-all as everyone with money now has its own private military. I see no way out of this mess. Probably the longer Putin lives and stays in power the longer it will take for the first civil war with nukes to start.
The Ukraine war will end because if it doesn’t the situation in Russia will cause a civil war. If the war continues that will also cause a civil war. In engineering speak the system has become unstable and at any moment and for almost any reason the situation will explode. The best we can do is hope to “manage” the situation so as to take minimum damage from the conflagration. I think Trump is our best bet to get out of Europe’s problem with minimum losses.

They hate us for our freedom. Oh, sorry. Wrong chant.
I watched this vid on anti-drone shotgun ammo recently.

There are a ton of vids on anti-drone shotguns.
Yes.
“between 20 and 30 minutes”
At that rate it won’t take them more than a few days to clear out Ukraine!
Lol that’s pretty funny McG....🤣
On the plus side the budget for coffee stays under control.
Russia has always been a dumpster fire on the battlefield. They lost to Japan in 1905, for Pete’s sake! They “won” at Stalingrad but only because of multiple blunders by Hitler and his generals and the Wehrmacht running out of fuel - and the Red Army still suffered twice as many combat deaths.
"And that's because AI-powered drones have gotten to be such specialized, low-cost killing machines. And it's why we're now four and a half years into that conflict," Ratcliffe added.
Just remember this is the CIA telling us this.
The same CIA that told us that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and a reconstituted nuclear weapons program.
If this is true one of two things is going to happen.
Ukraine is going to conquer the world with their cheap highly effective drone warfare.
The human race is going to driven to the brink of extinction when AI decides we are not worth the trouble.
Blood for soil.
Human beings can be so evil, but I never understood the willingness to die over a piece of ground, either to hold it, but particularly to take it.
The sad fact is that it is a few in power who stay safe and comfortable while millions are forced to decide between following orders so they can kill and die, or shame and execution.
This isn’t analogous to bands of chimpanzee family groups forming mini-armies and attacking neighboring chimp groups for resources. If human beings did that, they would eventually thin out the instinct to be territorial in war because too many would die over time.
What human beings experienced in the last 3000 years is completely different. “Civilization” is the opposite of what it’s etymology suggests. It’s far from civil. Populations are slowly forced into systems and institutions under power of the few, and when their growth of their systems of accumulation flatline, their greed results in the deaths of many.
