The senator died with a net worth of about $1.4 million, with congressional disclosures from May showing a lower-end estimate of just over $600,000 and an upper estimate of a little more than $2.2 million, according to financial disclosures he filed in May. Despite serving in Congress for 31 years, Graham ranked at 294th in wealth among the 535 voting members of Congress, according to data from the Quiver Quantitative.

What about the offshore stuff?
Do these include trusts?
What about extraterrestrial. Huh. Did you think of that? If you are going to trash a dead man, go all the way. ;~((
His wealth is none of our business. He filed the necessary disclosures during his time in Congress.
I would think that he’d have a paid-off house on Capitol Hill worth at least that much, plus a nice place in South Carolina.
If only he’d married his sister, opened a winery, opened a dozen “pharmacies” and “child care centers” in one building, and set up nonprofit “charities” so corporations could have donated to “charitable causes.”
Yes, it is. That’s the purpose of the mandated disclosures.
See post #7, it is why his net worth is a potential concern
.
Even though I was not a fan of him otherwise, good for him for (apparently) not cashing in.
One would have to work very hard to have that little money after decades as a US Senator. That job practically rains money if one chooses to use their office to enrich themselves.
And we’re past that...duh...
Eff you, and that Death Merchant
I read elsewhere that his DC home is worth about $800K. Don’t know about SC. That still doesn’t strike me as exorbitant, considering DC real estate market.
No kids to raise. No spouse to please. Many politicians go crooked because they have a family to support.
In comparison of E.g. the “friend of poor” Nancy Pelosi.
Clinton had no money to pay their mortgages at 2000 Ag, but when Hillary ran for president, she was now worth 250 millions, also just by serving in senate!
If true, kinda hurts the “warmonger - only in it for the military industrial complex kick-backs” theory, doesn’t it?
Its a sad commentary on our Federal Government that we take it for granted that dying deep-state politicians will automatically be worth $100s of millions, despite living off Congressman/Senator salaries their entire adult lives.
And it’s worth noting on. national news when that is NOT the case....
A lawyer, a retired Colonel, a powerful Senator, and he died with a middle class accumulation level of wealth in his 70s, he sure wasn’t greedy, it makes for an interesting comparison with even Bernie Sanders.
“”””” Many politicians go crooked because they have a family to support.”””””
That is laughable, and a little scary that you think like that.
Sometimes the family is just an excuse, but private school and Ivy League tuition is pretty steep now.
