U.S. forces began carrying out new strikes on Iran on July 11, in response to an Iranian attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes began around 7:15 p.m. ET, and were made in response to an Iranian attack on the Cyprus-flagged container ship M/V GFS Galaxy. CENTCOM said one of the vessel’s civilian crew members is missing following the Iranian attack, and the ship is unable to continue its journey due to an onboard fire and damage to its engine room.
“In response, the United States is imposing a heavy cost by continuing to degrade Iran’s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the strait. The strikes are being carried out at the direction of the Commander in Chief,” CENTCOM said.
Shortly before the U.S. military announced the strikes, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for firing upon a vessel that it said was attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz through a route not approved by Iran. The IRGC said its forces also began enforcing a closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which sits on a key route for the oceangoing export of oil and other commodities.

Maybe we shouldn’t. The Strait-there’s nothing there that we want. Let the Chicoms deal with it. The other gulf states can make their own deal. Sounds fair.
Every President for the last 47 years has just sat back and watched Iranians and their proxies killing Americans. We have exercised quite a bit of restraint.
Trump continues to attack primarily military targets. It appears that Gulf States are not as discerning. Especially since their civilians are being targeted.
trump needs to tell ‘em that every time they renew attacks on Hormuz ships he’s going to take out a petroleum refinery, and if/when they run out of refineries, he’s going to take out an electrical power generation plant for each subsequent Hormuz attacks ...
LOL- except when there are problems in the strait our oil/gas prices rise...
If he takes out the electric plants, the refineries will go down also. Less munitions required.
Pound them into submission....make them pay!!!

Even if it takes boots on the ground, billions of dollars, 10,000 dead soldiers in a forever war that will end like Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan?
No Thanks.
Hooray! Even deeper in debt!
Back in the day when the Christians took over a muzzie position they killed man woman and child. Thought this was cruel until today.
As long as one muzzie lives there will be trouble. Problem being they are spread across the globe. How many fanatics live in this country alone?
LOL- yeh; better just bend over and take it from Iran as we had been since 1979...
Which is why I suggested on another forum that if anything happens to Trump, take out Mecca.
Go placidly amid the noise and waste, And remember what comfort there may be in owning
a piece thereof
Boots on the ground from close of business Friday until start of business Monday, for as many weeks as it takes to drive these dudes loopy, and vulnerable to successful attack and defeat by actual Iranians.

The United States (and the rest of the world) imports a lot of urea from the Middle East and much of it must pass through the Straits of Hormuz.
Urea is a valuable and versatile ingredient and USA can’t make enough urea to cover its needs.
Better, take out that damnable well in Qom. The Imam Reza shrine is next to it and just happens to be where the late Ali Khamenei is resting in piece. More to the point the well is central to shi'a islam.
No well at Qom, no rise of the 12th imam, shi'a implodes.
We’ll take the last 47 years of crap from Iran and like it a helluva lot more than the 55,000 dead Americans we lost in Vietnam.
300 million people, lots of coffee and beer, and piss on them!
It only took 1,030 weeks to lose in Vietnam. A country that is 1/5 the size of Iran.
5X1030 is 6050 weeks. 6050 weeks is over 116 years. You want a forever war? Not me.
