In the aftermath of two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, the human cost continues to mount. According to figures released by National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez, at least 3,811 people have now died, with 16,740 injured, and 17,907 left homeless.

The twin quakes, measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, caused widespread destruction, particularly in coastal areas like La Guaira and the capital region of Caracas. Buildings collapsed, infrastructure failed, and entire communities were left in ruins — exposing the fragile state of much of the country's housing and public works after years of economic mismanagement and decay.
Interim President Delcy Rodriguez has renewed calls for the lifting of international sanctions, arguing that Venezuela possesses overseas assets — including gold held in places like the Bank of England — that could fund reconstruction, employment programs, and education if those accounts were unfrozen.
The government has also engaged with the International Monetary Fund on the matter.
Reports have highlighted slow initial government mobilization, with civilians sometimes forced to dig through rubble using basic tools or their hands. Hospitals reportedly faced shortages of medicine and equipment, compounding the challenges of search, rescue, and medical response.
International aid has arrived from various quarters, including U.S. teams, Israeli experts, and humanitarian organizations like Samaritan's Purse, which have supported rescue and medical efforts. The UN and others continue to scale up operations amid ongoing aftershocks.
Pray for the people of Venezuela.
THAT SEEMS LOW, CONSIDERING THE BUILD MATERIALS IN THAT COUNTRY
I’m sure the death toll will rise. There are supposedly thousands still missing...........
I thought the same thing.
Seems low.
Hope life is treating you well!!!
Trump’s fault.
