In a blow to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, another potential 2028 Democratic Party candidate for president is shockingly way ahead of him in a new poll.
The new survey from the Daily Mail/JL Partners shows that 29% of registered Democratic voters want to see former Vice President Kamala Harris be the 2028 party candidate for president.
The pick may be considered stunning as Harris, who like Newsom hails from the Golden State, was the Democrats' 2024 candidate for president and lost the election to Republican Donald Trump.
The survey showed Newsom, who has said he is considering a White House run, garnering support from 15% of registered Dem voters, far behind Harris.
In third place was former federal Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, with 11% support.
The survey showed 9% of responding Democrats weren't sure about their pick.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro were among the candidates getting single-digit support in the poll.
The survey took asked 1,040 registered Democratic Party voters for their take on the 2028 party primary for president.
The distant-second finish wasn't the only bad news for Newsom in the poll.

It’s mainly name recognition at this time.

Newsom’s donors will have to divert money to paying for Harris to speak a lot, go on TV shows and have soundbites from her comments on ads. Pay for rentals of halls, auditoriums and other venues for her to appear.
People have to get to know her more.
Remember during the campaign against Trump her handlers made her scarce and avoided any press conferences for her.
But this is a fun exercise that their base pretends that they can "vote" in the primaries.

I find this the most telling of all. Democrats always think the party is “for them.” That they can’t see what’s happening with Platner nor what happened to Bernie with Hilary’s superdelegates fiasco is beyond me.
