Trump renews Greenland threats at NATO summit, says U.S. could remove troops from Europe

President Donald Trump on Tuesday resurrected his push for the U.S. to acquire Greenland, and suggested the U.S. could pull all of its armed services members out of Europe in response to the continent’s continued pushback on the issue.

The island territory “should be controlled by the United States,” Trump said shortly after he arrived in Ankara, Turkey, for a summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO.

The 32-member alliance — which includes Denmark, of which Greenland is a part — fell into a crisis in January, as Trump demanded that the U.S. must take control of the island territory on national security grounds.

In a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday afternoon Ankara time, Trump vented that Europe’s refusal to go along with his expansionist desire is “what hurt my relationship with NATO.”

“Because Greenland doesn’t help Denmark. Denmark doesn’t spend money to really help Greenland, but it’s an important part for the United States,” Trump told reporters.

“And it’s surrounded by China ships and Russian ships, and that’s not going to happen, the ships, is, it’s not going to happen,” he said, repeating claims about foreign military threats against the self-governing island that experts on Greenland have denied.

Greenland “should be controlled by the United States, not by Denmark,” Trump went on. “And when they wouldn’t go along with it, and with all the money we spend to help them with Russia — we don’t have to spend any money.”

“Trump renews Greenland threats”

More MSM fear porn. CNBC is a rat propaganda op masquerading as a financial news network.

What happened to Cuber? I thought Marco went there to prepare the place for a US takeover?

“Eyes were rolling from those in attendance.”

Doubtful.

They fear him like they fear Putin.

I believe the leadership thinks everything is going just fine.

So what? Virgin Islands were for sale, Greenland is not.

No means no.

In terms of foreign policy, Trump should focus on ending the Iran war, instead of starting new conflicts with friends and allies.

The need for this couldn’t be clearer as Europe sells out to China and Islam. Canada too.

He’s right again, way ahead of his time. This is leadership and this is vision.

The world is changing as we are speaking at this moment. At this moment, Europe is no longer Europe.

It is inevitable that Europe is going to become a part of the Islamic Caliphate.

So in the future, Greenland will be "up for grabs".

If we don't get Greenland, China will seize control. Or maybe Russia.

If they never help us, but we're always expected to help them, is that really an alliance?

You have the Russian navy and air force running test runs for nuclear attacks towards Alaska and Greenland. That has been going on since the 1950s: https://www.airandspaceforces.com/article/intercepting-the-bear/

It stopped for a while, but began again in the mid 2010s.

We have bases in Greenland, permanent manned and unmanned for war (in emergencies).

Is it right that we have to defend Greenland, which is part of Denmark and NATO, with them doing practically nothing, while we have tens of thousands of troops in Europe, deploying to the Baltic states, Poland, quick to deploy in emergencies for the Balkans (where we more or less led the war effort on behalf of Europe in the 90s), manning missile defense systems in case Europe comes under attack?

Trump is putting pressure on these slugs to get off their ass and do something.

How about sending just one small squadron of fighters there and putting up a radar looking into the sky to the North. That would be really cool. Just (((PRETEND))) you're doing something for your own defense (Greenland) and our collective security (NATO), and not just hiding out in the background mooching.

Note to our idiot media: Your TDS makes this all about Trump, but that isn't the story here.

In case you missed the last 4-5 years. Russia and the US don't enjoy the best relationship anymore.

new conflicts with friends and allies

The Europeans are not our friends and are, at best, questionable allies. Their leaders are aligned with our Democrats. They truly hate everything we American conservatives believe in and love.

Could be a matter of price and other considerations, meanwhile, I’m listening to you. Tell me ,did Denmark post “For sale” sign on St. Croix, since you seem to know, or did U.S. make an offer?

Trump is right, we should control Greenland which really just means it will be protected by the US. Denmark couldn’t protect my Chihuahua.

This rhetoric needs to stop. It’s not helpful to any part of his agenda. No means No. Just move on already.
