In a major boost to the USMNT, FIFA have decided to suspend the one-game ban handed to striker Folarin Balogun, allowing him to be available for their World Cup round of 16 clash against Belgium on Monday night.
On Sunday morning, the governing body unexpectedly intervened to suspend the mandatory one-match ban stemming from the forward's red card on July 1.
The 25-year-old forward was sent off during the Americans' recent victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina following a challenge on defender Tarik Muharemovic.
Though it initially appeared to be a fairly innocuous tackle, replays showed that the striker did appear to scrape his cleats down his rival's leg. However, the decision still sparked widespread fury online, with many fans calling to overturn the suspension.
Now, just days later, USA fans have got their wish after FIFA confirmed that they would suspend Balogun's one-game ban, making him available for Monday's game.
Among them was US President Donald Trump, who wrote on Truth Social on Sunday: 'Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right and reversing a great injustice!'
Meanwhile, in their own statement, FIFA said: 'In line with article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the implementation of the match suspension is suspended for a probationary period of one year.
'If Folarin Balogun commits another infringement of a similar nature and gravity during the probationary period, the suspension shall be revoked and the sanction enforced without prejudice to any additional sanction imposed for the new infringement.'
In response, the USMNT said: 'We accept the decision of the Disciplinary Committee and are pleased that Folarin Balogun is eligible to compete tomorrow.
'Our full attention is focused on the Round of 16 match against Belgium in Seattle, and we look forward to the continued support of our amazing fans.'

If they really want to kill the sport, introduce video replay officials.
“Balogun was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Yoruba Nigerian parents.[7][8] His parents were living in London, and visited New York when his mother was seven months pregnant with him. Airline staff did not allow her to board the family’s return flight to London due to safety concerns over the advanced state of her pregnancy, and Balogun was subsequently born in New York.[9] He returned to the United Kingdom with his parents when he was two months old and grew up in London.[10][11][12]”

"INJUSTICE" is Hillary/Soros/Singham walking free and plotting their revenge on we the people.
We were promised JUSTICE and given a gold plated carnival instead.

All dressed up in red, white and blue, so you know that they are all American. Well not a lot of blue, but whatever. And what is it with the guy dressed in green?
I really love our team’s uniforms. I know nothing about soccer, but their uniforms are ... cute.
This is really bad. I do believe the red card was justified (and that Messi should have been red carded as well) but that`s beside the point.
Article 27 FDC allowes Fifa to “decide to fully or partially suspend the implementation of a disciplinary measure.” at their discretion. There are no criteria for the application given in Article 27, nor is there any case law existent, because Fifa doesn’t publish reasonings for the very rare suspensions of red cards.
The only other case i have heard of is when fifa reduced Ronaldo’s three games suspension last year.
The whole thing reeks of corruption. Fifa probably only uses Article 27 when it really, really helps their bottom line or when somebody very important asks really nicely. I somehow doubt they would have done the same thing for a player from, say, Curacao or Cape Verde.
They guy in green is the goalie Matt Turner. Goalie’s wear a different color.
Here’s another case of a news media dragging Trump into the mix trying to engage political observances into a fan making a statement on a social media. Trump said it as a fan, not a POTUS.
And the actual rule allowing the player to continue, put into the books in 2002, is very simple:
Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code allows judicial bodies to fully or partially suspend a disciplinary measure, such as an automatic match ban, and replace it with a probationary period. If the player commits another infringement of similar gravity during this probation, the suspension is revoked and the original sanction is enforced.
It’s kind of like a delayed call on a strike/ball call that is challenged by a batter or catcher. The big difference is that a repeated action of this type has further more stringent action. It is also a way to take the heat off an official that may have over reacted. The act was not intentional so an ejection may have been a little strong.

Guy in green is the goalie. They always wear off team color jerseys so they can be easily identified on the pitch.
I believe that is the goalie.
They did. It was after video replay that he was red carded to begin with.
That’s funny.
Given that the guy who acted like he broke his ankle played the rest of the damn game with no problem, an additional game suspension was unjust.
It wasn’t like the Paraguayans, who were intentionally trying to hurt the French players yesterday.
“In a major boost to the USMNT, FIFA have decided to suspend the one-game ban handed to striker Folarin Balogun”. Never heard of an American by that name before.
He was raised primarily in England and holds dual citizenship in both countries as well as Nigeria.
Great American name 🤔
Should have been a Yellow card.
There was no suspension for an additional game. A suspension for the next game is automatic. But that wasn’t my point anyway. My concern is not the justification of the red card but the murkiness of the whole process of suspending the suspension.
The interview I saw of him leads me to believe he was raised properly - soft spoken and very respectful, nothing like the feral gimmedats running amok in America.
