Mourners thronged a vast prayer complex in Tehran on Saturday as the week-long funeral ceremonies of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei began with the national anthem, religious eulogies and readings from the Koran.
Iran is staging mass funeral processions for Khamenei – whose 37-year reign was brought to an end in February by the first airstrike of the war launched by the US and Israel – in a show of public devotion to the Islamic Republic's theocratic state and revolutionary zeal.
Television footage showed his coffin draped with the Iranian flag and topped with his black turban. It was placed, along with four other coffins of his slain family members, on a large black platform that resembled the Kaaba, the cube-shaped structure at the centre of Islam's holiest site in Mecca.
The vast courtyard of the complex, the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla, was filled with mourners, many waving Iranian flags and carrying photographs of the slain leader.
'Death to America, revenge, revenge'
"'Death to America' chants echoed through Tehran's Mosalla on the day of the farewell to 'Mr. Martyr'," state broadcaster Seda va Sima said.
In video posts on other state media news sites, mourners were also heard chanting: "Our slogan is one word: Revenge, revenge," and "We will kill, we will kill he who killed our Imam."

Behind every Muslim government is the need to focus the people on an external threat. But what is truly keeping prosperity at bay? It’s their own government. I watched a presentation on politics in Pakistan. The Pakistani government focused its hate on ethnic Indians and gradually reduced the number of the Indian ethnic group in Pakistan to near extinction. Then, the people turned on other Muslim groups and there’s currently an ethnic civil war. Why? Because the government was focused on creating hate to maintain power and the focal point of that hate, ethnic Indians, vanished. The mechanism of hate, hate, hate was the only organizing principle and it simply refocused on the next “them” meaning those who aren’t “us.”
The Iranians are doing the same thing. One Israeli politician said of this mechanism, “If *Muslims* didn’t have us to hate, they’d have to invent us.” This organization around hate is the diametric opposite of Christian culture and it is largely the reason the West has grown and prospered at exponential rates. Try to think of one recent positive development Muslim culture has given the world. (I’ll wait.)

they do. whether leader or just average citizen, most Iranians want US and other semi-free peoples to be subdued or non existent. Iran and some of those countries never act in good faith, always lie to your face, then stab you in the back. the people living there support or enable it by not overthrowing the evil ways and leaders.

Miraculously God does change the hearts of some raised in those evil influenced beliefs, and they are trying to spread the word of His better ways.

I agree. division and hate are used everywhere in this world, because satan is alive and roaming seeking whom he may “devour’” (influence in some way) against God.
God knows when He will say enough is enough.
In the mean time all people get to choose a side. staying “neutral” = enabling evil, still a win for satan.
