Postmaster General David Steiner told a congressional panel Wednesday that under President Trump’s mandate requiring states to provide lists of voters who received mailed ballots, the Postal Service won’t deliver ballots in states where officials refuse to comply.
Democrats on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs slammed this as unconstitutional, saying that Congress, not the president, has the power to determine how the mail operates.
Following Mr. Trump’s executive order directing USPS to begin rulemaking on mail-in and absentee ballot services, the agency proposed rules requiring states to submit lists of voters receiving mail-in or absentee ballots.
Several years ago, the USPS began recommending Kit 600, which includes a unique barcode and envelope tied to outbound and return ballot envelopes. The proposed rule would formally codify these guidelines to “help determine adherence to federal law and facilitate law enforcement efforts.”
Historically, USPS recommended but could not enforce mail-in ballot standards. The proposed rule would make those standards mandatory, with noncompliant ballots returned to senders.
The public has until July 2 to comment on the proposal before the Trump administration can finalize it.
Michigan Sen. Gary Peters, the top Democrat on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said the administration’s effort to “nationalize elections” and give the federal government such information is an “incredibly dangerous precedent.”
“We need to protect the integrity of the voting rolls. We need to protect the separation of elections from the federal government and ensure that our state and local governments are the ones administering their own elections,” he said.

This one will be VERY interesting.
The Post Office doesn’t have such authority.
The dems know their game of fraud and theft to turn elections will be defeated if they can’t control the mail in ballots, so they’ll do anything, anything to stop the needed changes for free, fair and legal elections. Lenin and Stalin would be proud of their continuing efforts.
The president/ie executive branch has the constitutional power to run and direct agencies under his control. He can give them orders how to do things.
So yeah he can do that. Congress can challenge an eo or write a law negating an eo, but the president can veto it.
This is what Democracy looks like !
Post office is under the total dictatorship of the demonic-rats-party.
Only if the lower district courts allow it, it looks like they control everything.
The easiest way to cheat is with mail in voting. This is why most countries outlaw it. It is also why criminally insane Democrats will defend it to the death
This should be used as evidence in trials for conspiracy to commit voter fraud.
The USPS did it for the Demonicrats, but the Demonicrats don’t want it done for the GOP.
USPS has no such authority.
“ The Post Office doesn’t have such authority.”
Says you.
L
18 USC Section 1341 prohibits use of the postal system in furtherance of a fraudulent scheme.
President Trump knows how to get the Dems to show their hand and jump onto the wrong side of any issue with both feet.
Transparency means NO TRANSPARENCY.
“The public has until July 2 to comment on the proposal before the Trump administration can finalize it.”
So where do we comment on this proposal?
Well troll why do you think the rats are fighting this.
“The Post Office doesn’t have such authority.”
The President has an obligation to enforce section 2 of the 1965 voter rights act, and enforcement/prevention of the post service used for fraud. So, legally, the President has the authority and obligation.
What’s been the legality of the USPS having control of ballots for “mail-in” voting?
The USPS can deliver ballots to “voters” or not.
They can throw away ballots returned by mail or not.
They can throw away, burn, deface, and misdeliver ballots, and strip the ballot envelopes, or not.
Using 5+4 digit zip code data, the USPS can easily screen lists of names, or source areas to purge ballots from members of parties they don’t like.
All of the above can be deliberate or attributable to many varieties of incompetence, so it would be impossible to prosecute anyone for deliberate malfeasance (the prosecutors would have to argue that the USPS NEVER makes mistakes — good luck with that).
Conclusion: There is no way in hell the USPS should ANY ROLE in the ballot/voting process, with the exception of mail for US service members stationed overseas — and even that should be handled other ways when technically possible.
