Italy's Giorgia Meloni has again hit back at US President Donald Trump on social media after he questioned her political popularity and repeated his claim that she asked "over and over" for a photo together.
Trump said on Saturday that the prime minister was "doing poorly in Italy with her level of popularity".
He also accused her of not supporting US efforts to prevent Iran "from obtaining or developing a nuclear weapon".
In a statement on Instagram, Meloni said Trump's "constant, unprovoked attacks" were "senseless".
"As for my popularity, being your friend has certainly not helped it, nor does it depend on my relationship with you," said Meloni.
"My popularity is none of your concern. I suggest you focus on yours," she added.
Earlier on Saturday, Trump also said Meloni had caused "a great logistical inconvenience" by barring the US from using Italian air facilities for American military operations in Iran.

Italy's Meloni responds to Trump:
President Trump, these constant, unprovoked attacks are senseless. As for my popularity, being your friend certainly has not helped it, nor does it depend on my relationship with you.
My popularity depends on my ability to defend Italy’s national interest, and that is exactly what I have always done. That is also what I did regarding the American military bases in Italy. Their use is governed by agreements that we have always respected, and that cannot be violated as long as I am Prime Minister.
Italy remains a sovereign nation. In any case, my popularity is none of your concern. I suggest you focus on yours.

She’s acting nutty
I checked to if she was married with that attitude and discovered she had a Domestic partner…had. She left….. maybe the attitude?
This is not a battle Trump is going to win. He should focus on the algae and the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations.
Meloni joked many years ago that if she quit smoking cigarettes she might kill someone. She recently said that she quit smoking May 1, 2026 but craves coffee.
This is why I never dated Italian girls.
Trump makes so many enemies unnecessarily. Even if someone works with him, they always have to be concerned that he will soon insult them publicly. Trump’s policies are great for America, but his personality is toxic. That might work for a CEO who can fire people, but not for a country or world leader who would do better getting his preferred policies in place when others cooperate with him.
Trump, just STOP with the personal shit. ENOUGH

Trump is 80. Maybe he wouldn’t make mistakes like this if he was younger.
Meloni should have known Trump is a misogynist and should have left him alone.

You don’t think he’s doing more than just calling out people? I like it that he exposes those who want to use the US only for their gain and when it comes time to belly up to the table, they back away. Let Trump be Trump and stop getting caught up in the minutia.
Sometimes I think Trump should learn to keep his mouth shut
Then I realize how much entertainment we would be missing.
FWIW, every time I think Trump has jumped the shark, a few months down the road it becomes clear that Trump’s comments were very intentional, pitch perfect and precisely targeted to very good effect.
Trump is usually a few steps ahead of the competition and these off the wall comments blaze the trail
