A shooting erupted during a violent altercation on Thursday outside a gas station in Roseville, Michigan, after bail bond agents spotted someone who had skipped bail.
The Roseville Police Department said the wanted man, who was injured in the shooting, skipped bail on June 9.
Agents from the bail bond company tracked him to the Marathon gas station at 12 Mile Road and Interstate 94, where they saw the man standing outside a vehicle and talking to another man.
Police said the bail agents positioned their vehicles to block the man's vehicle and exited their vehicles in an attempt to take him into custody. The man then got back into his vehicle and tried to escape by driving away.
During that attempt, the man pinned a bail bond agent who was standing between the vehicles. The man then accelerated his vehicle, trying to push the bail agent's vehicle away.
Another bail agent broke the front driver-side window of the suspect's vehicle and tried to shift the vehicle's transmission into park. Police said the bail agent and driver fought, and the agent fired one round, with the bullet striking the suspect in the arm. The bail agents then got the man into handcuffs.
By this time, multiple police officers had arrived on the scene, according to a convenience store clerk who witnessed the commotion outside.
Residents who live near the gas station say they were stunned by what unfolded.
Christian Zafieropoulos, who has lived in the area for about four years, said he was sitting on his front porch when he heard the gunshot.
"Nothing like that here, so it's really surprising to hear that there's a gunshot," Zafieropoulos said. "I heard a loud pop... a really pronounced, sharp pop, what I thought was a gunshot. Then a few minutes later, I saw ambulances and sirens everywhere."
Another neighbor, Brandon McCartt, said he initially thought the scene was a crash but quickly realized it was more serious when he saw police activity.
McCartt said the location is especially concerning because it's close to where children gather.
"I thought it was just an accident, but then I saw the police line. I knew it was worse," McCartt said. "It's shocking. It's right at the corner where my kids go to school. It's getting crazy out here in Roseville."
The suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment while remaining in police custody.
All bail agents involved in this call are licensed by the state of Michigan and hold Michigan concealed pistol license credentials, the police department said.
Detectives from the Roseville Police Department will consult with the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office regarding possible charges.

A little off topic but “The suspect” is the only description we get....and you know what THAT means.
As far as bailbondsmen go, much like car repo guys, its a good way to get dead if they aren’t careful.
That very thing happened in my town a couple of weeks ago.
Scumbag that wasn’t making car payments, in process of repo scumbag shot and killed the tow truck driver and ran away.
To date, scumbag STILL has not been found.
Bounty hunter is a hairy gig....not for the faint of heart to be sure.
Valid use of lethal force.
I guess they will count this as another school shooting since there is a school “just around the corner,”
It was interesting.

A Feel Good Story to start the day. :)
It used to be the big ditch....
Now it’s 12 mile
My brother drove one of those tow trucks. It was for non-moving parked cars. Always was accompanied by a cop.
There is no right to flee, to resist arrest.
Defense lawyers have created the right to resist arrest by claiming bodily harm.
There must be reinstatement of the police officers to end arresting by the use of a police baton or billy club. Resisting arrest endangers the police officer and the civil rights of the cop for a safe working place
Fire the guy who stood btw the vehicles
Also does roseville have a soros da?
Yes
You can control a suspect with a good piece of hickory
Its nothing personal. Its my hi-paying job that allows me to shoot other people.
If the pinned agents life was in danger they should have shot the suspect then (but they probably don't get paid if they bring in a corpse), instead the agent attempts to disable the vehicle. The suspect then resists and is shot.
By waiting until the suspect resists the disabling of the vehicle puts into question that the other agents life was in danger.
The agent who fired may lose their license and the suspect may receive a payout from the agency.
There was not enough information given to make a determination that it was a bad shoot, especially since it is a media report supplying that information. We all know media’s penchant to spin a story to harm law and order and help the criminal. Let the investigation play out.
