Zelenskyy gives Belarus a week to quit relaying Russian drones

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Belarus has a week to dismantle relay equipment used to direct Russian drone strikes against targets inside Ukraine. If not, Kyiv will deal with the problem itself.

During a joint press conference on Friday with Honduran President Nasry Asfura, Mr. Zelenskyy said he was skeptical of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s claims that he didn’t want to be drawn into the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

“He should be honest, at least to his people, because it is not he who can be drawn into the war — it is his entire country that can be drawn into the war, drawn into it by Russia,” Mr. Zelenskyy said, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency. “They have been killing children and adults since the first days of the war — missiles were flying from Belarus.”

I’m no fan of Zel’s but I also thought it was stupid that we always tied Ukraine’s hands in their fight with Russia. Had we let them duke it out this would be over already.

Oh it would have been over very quickly. But Ukraine had no chance without the US and NATO supplying them with arms. Sadly Ukraine has lost of their adult males and will still lose.

Russians are using Belarus relay towers installed along the border with Ukraine to adjust fire and guide Shahed drones into Ukrainian territory.

The warning centered on what Zelensky described as relay systems mounted on communication towers in two Belarusian regions bordering Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian president, the equipment is being used to help coordinate Russian drone attacks against civilian areas rather than active front-line positions.

"There are relay systems on those towers," he said. "He can remove them. If he truly does not want to be part of the war, let him remove that equipment and switch it off."

Zelensky said the continuing operation of the systems was contributing to daily civilian casualties in Ukraine. He added that one week would be sufficient time for the Belarusian authorities to dismantle the equipment.

"Every day our civilians are dying because of this," he said. "If he does not (switch) it (off), we will."

Exactly...should have just let them fight and it would be over a lot quicker. And there would be a bit more damage in Russia as well hurting Putin with his people. It was dumb as hell to not let them just fight.

With Ukraine subjugated three years ago, our trip wire brigades in Poland and the Baltic's would be facing across the border hundreds of thousands of conscripted Ukrainian soldiers in the Russian army. Not a result we would want to see.
