European leaders urge Trump to host Zelenskyy-Putin talks

European leaders at the G7 summit have urged Donald Trump to try to break the deadlock over ending the Ukraine war by taking up the proposal for him to host talks in the US between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin.

The US president lamented “the great antipathy” between the Ukrainian and Russian leaders that made it difficult to reach a settlement, and vowed to do what he could. He said Moscow “should make a deal”, noting that it had “lost a great many people, just like Ukraine”.

Zelenskyy, attending the summit in the spa town of Évian-les-Bains at the invitation of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, is attempting to re-engage Trump in the hope that the US administration will be less distracted now it has agreed a 60-day ceasefire in Iran.

Macron, caught on a hot mic at the summit, was heard admitting to Zelenskyy he had had difficult discussions with Trump on Monday concerning Ukraine.

Speaking at a morning session of G7 leaders and Zelenskyy, Trump said he would do what he could, and German sources claimed Trump recognised that Russia was in a weaker position than previously.

The leaders of the G7, which comprises the US, Japan, France, Canada, the UK, Italy and Germany, also agreed to step up sanctions on Russian energy. The European Union is already preparing its 21st sanctions package, including restrictions on the sale of LNG tankers to Russia.

God no!

Keep Trump far away to a remote place where he cannot do any more harm to Ukraine.

F#$ Ukraine. The EU (& BejingBiden) made this war to demonize Russia — to justify the HilaryHag not being installed as Pres.
Thank you, Gawd.
Let the EU deal with the problem they created and then sustained for years — just so politicos could skim the grants.

Ukraine is a cleanup operation starting with all the biolabs and trafficking. All one has to do is the research. It will end when the operation is over and the US politicians involved in the corruption are outed like John McLame who is with Satan.

If you really try, you can argue that getting involved in Iran was in America’s interest.

But we have no business getting involved in this Ukraine/Russia conflict. None at all. Not our circus. Not our monkeys.

But what’s the harm? Eventually there will be some sort of rebuilding program for Ukraine. That should be paid for using euros. If we get involved, it will be paid for using US taxpayer dollars.

Mariner: "For all their talk of going it alone, they have no intention of doing so."

The only people talking about "going it alone" are American isolationists.
Everyone else understand they and we need allies, the more the better.

Europeans are fully capable, if they so decide, of dealing with Russia and Ukraine.
Americans need to focus elsewhere, beyond just restoring trade & financial balances, we have serious issues in the Middle East and Indo-Pacific.

We'll do what we can to help Europe, but they have to take care of their own back yard.

Why can’t the Europeans host their own Putin-Zelensky talks? Why do the Euroweenies always hide behind America’s skirts?

Russians Invade Ukraine, February 2022:

Russians are not our friends, they never were.
Before 1941 and since 1945, Russians were our enemies, sometimes directly threatening us, always threatening our friends and allies.
At very best, Russians were not our worst enemies, and even today you might argue that China is a more serious threat than Russia.
But Russians were never our friends and always required effective diplomatic, cultural, economic and military responses to check and contain them.

Mad-Vlad the Invader invaded Ukraine in 2014 and again in 2022, expecting little resistance and a quick victory.
He was wrong and today is losing ground in Ukraine.
That makes him the legal villain of this story, regardless of your personal feelings against Ukrainians.

So, it's never been about "demonizing Russia", rather it's about recognizing reality of what Russia is and does.

Unbelievable! You're like libtards who contort the English language; abortion=choice. The war was started by Putin, who invaded Ukraine in order to subjugate it.

Trump should state the following:

“It’s about 5,000 miles from DC to Kiev… 1,200 miles from Brussels to Kiev. This is EU’s fight, not ours.”

Volodymyr and Olena Zelensky family:

All that talk is pure fantasy, Russian propaganda and nothing more.
You've been drinking the Russian Kool-Aid and now your brain is rotten with nonsense.

  1. "Biolabs" -- fantasy

  2. "Trafficking" -- fabrication.
The US has serious trafficking, thousands of children per year.
The biggest trafficker of Ukrainian children is not Olena Zelensky, it's Vladimir Putin.

  3. US politicians have supported Ukraine from Day One in 1991, with political, economic and military aid.
Those politicians included Pres. Trump-45 in 2019 who sent Stingers and Javelins, weapons which proved critical in defeating Mad-Vlad the Invader's February 2022 "Special Military Operation".
Bottom line: you should stop drinking the Russian propaganda Kool-Aid because it's specifically designed to rot your brain and render you ineffective as an American citizen.

The truth will set you free.
