The good news is that between May 2024 and May 2025 the U.S. gained 41,060 computer jobs. The bad news is that in 2025 the U.S. imported 52,938 workers for computer jobs on H-1B visas alone. Even more foreign computer workers come under an alphabet soup of other work programs [about 20 other foreign labor categories].

This is what makes me lose hope.
The U.S. imports enough foreign workers to fill every computer job it creates.
President Trump: What’s the point of deporting illegal-alien gardeners, while importing workers on H-1B and other visas so that our kids can’t find jobs?
Young American citizens should really think carefully about a career in tech — the industry would prefer not to hire you.
Have you ever noticed how few Freepers relate to bread and butter “working class” issues?
It will get worse as AI takes the boiler room programming jobs.
It’s even more insulting that they import the scum of the earth morons to fill the tech jobs. These lowlifes worship a blue pachyderm and wipe their asses with their hands.
Comparing apples and oranges to get clicks.
How many of those H1-Bs involve computer jobs?

The H-1B visa is a nonimmigrant visa that allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor’s degree.
Definition of H-1B Visa:
The H-1B visa program was established to enable U.S. employers to hire foreign professionals in specialty occupations, which are defined as jobs that require the application of a body of highly specialized knowledge and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
. This visa is particularly important in fields such as technology, engineering, mathematics, and healthcare, where there may be a shortage of qualified U.S. workers
They hire them because they work cheaper than American workers.
That’s what I’d like to know....who is doing the hiring for the good jobs & our citizens get the leftovers? Or are these H1-B jobs really that good? It matters to me for our future as a country. I am retired & won’t be hiring on anywhere now or later anyway.
I was in IT for 47 years. The first half as a company employee, the second half as an independent contractor. I retired in 2015. I didn’t really want to retire yet, but due to budget cuts and me being the highest paid consultant in the department I did not get a renewed contract after 11 1/2 years working for the Supreme court of N.J. Three months after I left, the position was filled with 3 foreign contractors. From around the early nineties, I started noticing more and more foreign IT workers until I became a minority. Today I would not recommend any IT job for any American born person. Welders, electricians, plumbers, mechanics and many other professions can make more money today. I know a cross country trucker that makes close to 150k a year.
There are a variety of people here. But a lot of us are older and better off financially. It’s “I got mine”. So there is little empathy for working class people or young people. A lot of Freepers have a strong dislike for Obama who said that he would “fundamentally transform” the country (and did just that). But if you tell these Freepers that young people growing up in the country today have the deck stacked against them, many Freepers will scoff and tell proud stories about how difficult their own life was in the 1980s. That “fundamental transformation” that took place in the 21st century goes right over their heads.

Geez, you think i dont know that? Kill that evil visa.
Cheaper yes. Better no.
Here is the report to Congress, and it is only 11 pages long.
Reform the H1B (and others) program?
Shut it down for a year. Or more.
Fine the cheaters out of business.
“H-1B visa is welfare for billionaires”
Exactly. Your words are the best distillation of the true driving force behind the H-1B scam.
I cannot find a link for the exact number he quoted.
However, in 2025...
Total - 406,000 H-1B jobs filled.
Total - 252,000 H-1B computer related
2025 - 114,800 H-1B jobs filled
2025 - 52,700 H-1B computer related
