U.S. President Donald Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday that ending the conflict in Ukraine was vital and he was ‌ready to help, Russian news agencies quoted Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov as saying.

"As regards the Ukrainian conflict, Donald Trump again emphasised that a cessation of hostilities was vital," Ushakov was quoted as telling journalists.

"The situation around the memorandum between the U.S. and Iran was discussed," Ushakov was quoted as saying.

"Donald Trump said an agreement was close and he expects that the results of the difficult but ultimately successful negotiations can be made public."

Ushakov also said Putin congratulated Trump on his 80th birthday in an "informal" way.

Ushakov told the journalists that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who have led U.S.-brokered negotiations aimed at ending the Ukraine war, would soon be undertaking another visit to ‌Russia.

Diplomatic efforts on ending the Ukraine war have stalled as Washington remains focused on the conflict in Iran. During their phone conversation on Sunday, Trump and Putin discussed the latest diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement on the Iran conflict, Ushakov said.

Iran continues to be ruled by IRGC terrorists. That has not been changed. Talk of any kind of “negotiations” with these psychopaths is a global embarrassment for the U.S. There has been no violent removal of these thugs by the Iranian people. They have had many opportunities to do so, yet the IRGC after violently eliminating 30,000 Iranian protesters and rioters, continues to hold the psychological upper hand. The people have been intimidated to the point of total submuission.

No personal arms and they’ve been intimidated into the ground.

The best deal for America: we go neutral on Ukraine and end sanctions; Russia ditches Iran, other scoundrel regimes, and joins us to bring down the EU.

Where the hell has the CIA been when we needed it? In fact I'll go a step further. Trump has probably been handed a list of scenarios military and otherwise on Iran ranging from those most acceptable to the American public to those least acceptable. Some of these may involve significant loss of life for a large number of Iranians.

But remember the "higher good" argument. The ones least acceptable are the ones which would most likely guarantee internal regime change, but for unknown reasons the ruling elites here don't want to see it happen or haven't the stomach for it. It is ironic that many Gulf and Arab states also want Iran neutered, yet their support seems to have very little effect on the outcome we are witnessing.

Historically American leadership has from time to time been called upon to make decisions carrying terrifying consequences in order to safeguard the Republic. It may be that we have arrived at a point in our devolution where the kinds of men with the character needed to make these incredibly difficult decisions can no longer be found.

Another sham “peace” in the making. Having cut off Ukraine from aid and never putting any serious pressure on Moscow, Trump has lost what leverage he had over both Ukraine and Russia. So what exactly is he bringing to the table?

The EU won't allow that to happen. So the war will continue for a while.

Ironically, Russia and USA should be on friendly terms because both countries are nationalist.

The EU is globalist plus NATO so it makes zero sense for USA to be a member of that organization.

You think you tap a stick and trained supplied Iranian guerrillas spring out of the ground? If it was going to be done it should have already been done. I don’t see any indication of it. (Maybe its there and the trigger hasn’t been pulled. If not, why not?) Anyway something like that would have never been kept a secret. Certainly not with the present mid to high level national security bureaucrats (including DOD flags & bureaucrats!) still there.

Restore full trade with Russia. Russia has much of what the West ( and the world) needs. There was talk a year or so ago of opening Russia’s $$$75 trillion natural resources much in Siberia to Western exploration companies....joint ventures....and finally building that tunnel, between Alaska and Russia.

And what does Ukraine get out of this deal? I don't think Trump can get the Europeans to throw Ukraine under the bus either.

And what does bringing Russia back into trade for the US do besides lower our natural gas and petroleum exports? It actually costs the US money.

Not to mention that any trade deals with Russia's kleptocratic regime are likely to prove wholly illusory. I see no geopolitical benefit for the US in undercutting its own oil and gas industry to replace dependency on Chinese controlled mineral sources with Russian ones.

No matter how many times Russia declares the US its primary enemy and how much it loathes the US, reminds us we are targeted by their nukes, etc., etc., there seems to be a determined cadre of Freepers who insist this is all a misunderstanding and we are natural allies.

Putin's claims to be "conservative" and "Christian" are complete bull--t propaganda designed to appeal to those who are profoundly unhappy with the current Western elites.

Putin is a thug who cares only about his own power and will kill his own people and squander the lives of his own soldiers to keep power. The Russian people are so atomized and demoralized that they won't take any action against the regime that robs them blind, beats them and kills them and yearn for revenge only by murdering, raping and looting their neighbors. It's been that way for 500 years and nothing has changed.

That was the term when President Trump had American troops in Ukraine training the Ukrainians and arming them for war with Russia.

This term President Trump has Americans in Ukraine being trained by Ukrainians while they help us with weapons.
