President Trump publicly dinged Israel for striking near Beirut as the US and Iran prepared to sign a peace deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran,” Trump posted on Truth Social. ” Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless.”
“We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down,” he went on. “There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel.”
“Let’s not blow it!”

Keep striking, Israel. Someone has to do it.
I still don’t understand why the President thinks Iran won’t renege on this or any other arrangement.
“Any assault on this historic quarter would place innocent lives at immediate risk and could lead to widespread destruction, further displacement, and an irreparable wound to the historic Christian presence and to the human fabric of Southern Lebanon.”

I just hope this is us playing “Good Cop, Bad Cop”.
So you do not support the President?
I love President Trump, but Israel has the right to defend itself.
It’s Lebanon not Iran , none of Iran’s business
Trump is flat out embarrassing himself here. Begging for a bad deal with a terrorist country that cannot be trusted.
Israel was attacked first and had every right to strike back. Full stop.
In this regard, I don’t.
As a 3x Trump voter, I have to say I have never been more disappointed. Something happened to him in the past few months.
Israel should not only defend itself against Hezbollah, it should do it forcefully enough that Iran and Turkey get the idea that Israel cannot be blackmailed by Trump (or should I say Vance/Barrack/Witkoff/Qatar/Pakistan/Turkey).

He could be playing a clever, long game of chess.
Or he could just be looking for a way out. Any halfway decent way out.
I actually wouldn’t bet either way.
Hit em till there’s no one left to “negotiate” with!
He wants a fake document signed today...a birthday present called peace in our time.
I agree with the President.
I’m a 100% Trump supporter but maybe that has to be 99%.
Remember when North Korea wasn’t going to get a nuclear weapon?
And Trump tried to convince them to build hotel resorts?
There seems to be a possible disconnect in his understanding of what dictators can be expected to do.
Hopefully I’m over simplifying.
+1000
Israel has the right idea. Trump won’t learn.
Bad move to let Iran dictate to the US what Israel and or cannot do. This is crazy. We should not let ourselves get caught up in trying to control what Israel can or cannot do with respect to that part of the world.
Of course. SOS. Effit.
