After Israel strikes Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahiyeh neighborhood, Iran seeks to paint the attacks as a threat to an emerging deal between Tehran and Washington.
“The Zionists’ incursion into Dahiyeh has once again shown that America either lacks the will to fulfill its commitments or the ability to do so,” writes Iran’s top negotiator and parliament speaker, Mohammad Ghalibaf, on X.
“By giving the green light to the regime, you cannot gain concessions. The game of bad cop and good cop is outdated,” he says.
"If you lack the will and ability to fulfill your commitments, speaking of continuing the path is not possible,” he threatens.
Meanwhile, Gen. Mohammad-Jafar Asadi, deputy chief of the Khatam al-Anbiya operational headquarters of Iran’s Armed Forces, tells local media that the Dahiyeh strike “will not go unanswered.”

The IDF says it is prepared for Iranian missile fire on Israel in the coming hours following the strike on Hezbollah in Beirut earlier.
The military says IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir is conducting an assessment “with all relevant commanders” following the strike, and the current assessment is that Iran will fire missiles at Israel.
“The IDF continues to maintain readiness and alertness for a variety of defensive and offensive scenarios,” it says, adding that “the IDF will not tolerate fire toward the territory of the State of Israel.”
A diplomat involved in US-Iran peace talks says Israeli strikes on Beirut, Lebanon, today have created issues with finalizing a deal, per Fox News.
The diplomat says the strikes are an attempt to “sabotage President Trump’s deal and drag the US back into war.”
Why does Iran care about Lebanon?
I think Lebanon is just an excuse for the Iranian hardasses to keep fighting.
How many times does this make? Ten? Twelve? Eleventy-gazillion?
It gives them a regional 'base' next to Israel, and Mediterranean access. Plus, they're interested in any place they can assure Islamic rule.
Maybe Trump needs to get on the phone with Truth Social and lay down the law that Truth Social stops announcing wars won and deals done until the war is actually won and a deal is actually signed.
Israel doesn’t want the IRGC to remain in power. They’re going to keep doing this to scuttle any peace deal until they get their way.
You mean get on the phone with himself?
You write Eleventy-Gazillion and you expect to be taken seriously?
Hezbollah attacked Israel. Does Israel not have a right to defend itself?
Iran doesn’t care about Lebanon. Iran cares about Hezbollah: Iran’s proxy that attacks/terrorizes Israel. Lebanon is where Hezbollah occupies ground.
They’re already playing with the edges.
Don’t you think that the IRGC told the Hezbollah branch to launch missiles to queer the deal? And then Israel responded. Now Iran will respond. They are just dragging it out intentionally so they can rearm. This is six weeks running that they have done this. I suspect that the President is well aware of what they are trying to do. Meanwhile, there are riots in Tehran against the foreign ministers and perceived dealmakers as THEY are convinced that they have surrendered to Trump. I would say that Trump’s plan is working brilliantly. He is getting them to fight for an MOU, which means absolutely nothing, and destroy themselves so that the Government will fall. Best option of all!
...says the country who has not honored a single treaty since its inception over 40 years ago.
Pot...kettle...black.
Absolutely. There is no way they would agree to anything on Trump’s BD.
Trump simping for Iran now. Wow. Unbelievable.
Seriously? That is exactly what Trump is orchestrating so he can help an internal revolution occur in Iran. They are rioting there as we write.
