The CEO of the largest Democratic fundraising platform pleaded the Fifth Amendment Wednesday rather than testify before Congress about allegations that her firm illegally funneled foreign donations to federal campaigns.
“On the advice of my counsel, I respectfully decline to answer this question pursuant to my Fifth Amendment rights under the Constitution,” ActBlue boss Regina Wallace-Jones said in response to the first question posed during the House hearing.
House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) said in his opening remarks there was “significant concern that ActBlue may have allowed foreign donations on their platform, lied to Congress and withheld responsive documents from a congressional subpoena.”

In a video statement posted on the platform’s website Wednesday, Wallace-Jones accused “President Trump and his allies” of “abusing their power to target ActBlue.”
“Invoking the Fifth Amendment is not an admission — or even an insinuation — of guilt,” she said.
“Last year, President Trump directed the Justice Department to investigate ActBlue, not based on facts, but dislike. Republican committee chairs wrote to Trump’s attorney general pledging to work collaboratively together,” Wallace-Jones added.

Republicans should call the Dems on their bluff and investigate both Act Blue and Win Red. Make a PR event of it to demonstrate they are being even handed and not partisan. Call for an IRS audit of both organizations.
Her behavior at the hearing was quite a show. She was arrogant, cocky. and flippant. She laughed as she delivered her statement.
She clearly believes haer skin color will exempt her from the law.
Unfortunately, she’s probably right.

She even took the 5th when she was asked how she wished to be addressed. Couldn’t even give her own name.
ActBlue has been using illegal foreign donations since Obama in 2008. We all have known this and have been pleading to have them investigated and arrested. But yeah, more hearings followed by strong letters. In the meantime, Democrats will continue to fund campaigns with illegal donations and steal elections they don’t actually win.
Pleads the 5th and dollars to donuts there STILL won’t be any arrests. In 6 months ActBlue will be right back to raising cash from overseas.
Absolutely. Oh, absolutely.
And pull an Obama and start auditing the taxes of everyone associated with Act Blue, then cancel their NP status.

Jordan’s questions asked and his performance are always fantastic.
But all these Congressional hearings are nothing but performative art. Nothing ever happens.
I predict she is going to have an accident and be killed. Because there are a lot of people in Washington that would have serious stink on them if she sings.
She is a loose end at this point I think.

Sad,but true.
She’s probably guilty as hell, but pleading the 5th was her best move; not that it is going to make any difference at trial.
If she agrees to cooperate with the prosecution and name a bunch of other people, she might get a good deal on her sentence.
That’s not the same well-fed one appearing before the committee.
Taking the fifth cannot be used at trial, but it can be considered during deliberations by a GJ.
