A father’s mission to save his teenage daughter from an alleged intruder who broke into their San Jacinto home prompted a gun battle Friday night that ended with the suspect dead.
“His goal was to get his daughter out safely, regardless of what happened to him,” neighbor Robert Dorame said. “I’m shattered for them because they’re good people.”
Police said they were called to a home on Herron Way around 10:23 p.m. on a report of assault with a deadly weapon. When they arrived, officers found the suspect had been shot dead at the scene.
The family who lives at the home isn’t ready to speak out, but neighbors told KTLA that they, too, were home, and the ordeal was terrifying.

“From what I understand, the guy tried shooting at her as she started running,” Dorame said. “Then when she goes into the garage, she yelled out, ‘There’s a stranger in the house with a gun.'”
Her husband then attempted to get inside to save their daughter, who was also inside.
“The guy started loading up again. He got in there and the guy shot at Chris,” Dorame recalled. “He dropped, got up and he unloaded at him and got the guy down.”
He was then able to get his daughter out of the house unharmed.
In one surveillance video, you can hear another neighbor, Francisco Aguilar, yelling “run.”
“Bah, bah, bah. And then oh man, they’re not fireworks, they’re shots,” Aguilar said.
Deputies with the San Jacinto Station of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department arrived moments later to find the suspect, 45-year-old Ismael Martinez, dead.

Since this is in Southern California, I’ll pray for the father not to have to deal with any legal actions *against* him.
Good thing his daughter was loaded.
When a person is committing a crime, death is a very useful and valid option.
Fortunate that it took place in Riverside County.
My first thought too. Ha ha
....(sniff, sniff....) I love stories that have happy endings.....but seriously, this perp got just what he deserved....live by the gun, die by the gun.....
thumbs up

“Since this is in Southern California, I’ll pray for the father not to have to deal with any legal actions *against* him.”
Fallacious.
CA is a Castle Doctrine state. Stand your Ground too.
There is no obligation to retreat from home or on the street. And anyone breaking into your house is a target for deadly force.
In 100% of all cases.
One of the famous first lines.
Eenter of mass does the trick. Well done, and we see again why Dad’s are so important.
I know, right?
“Yeah, man, you ought see her bazookas!”
SoCal but not L.A. County, so the D.A. won’t likely bring a case.
Anywhere but the counties immediate to SF Bay, Los Angeles and Sacramento, it’s mostly not going to be a legal problem for a case where the evidence all points to a “clean” shoot.
