The Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on military targets in central and Western Iran on Monday morning local time, Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
Why it matters: The strikes, in retaliation for an Iranian missile attack against Israel, mark a new phase in a growing escalation that started on Sunday morning. This is the first time Israel has struck Iran since the April 8 ceasefire.
Iran had threatened to expand its attacks and target U.S. bases in the region if Israel retaliated. Further exchanges of fire could unravel the negotiations between the U.S. and Iran and lead to the resumption of the war.
President Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu several hours before the strikes to stand down and refrain from retaliating.
Between the lines: A U.S. defense official said the U.S. military was not involved in the Israeli strikes on Iran.
The official said the Israeli strikes were "relatively limited" in their scope. State of play: Explosions were heard in the Iranian cities of Tehran, Karaj, Isfahan, Tabriz and Kermanshah, according to Iranian state media.
Iran closed its airspace around Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport following the strikes. An hour after the Israeli strikes in Iran, a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen towards central Israel, the IDF said.
Shortly after, sirens went off in Tel Aviv. It was the first attack from Yemen since the April 8 ceasefire. Go deeper: Israel strikes Beirut after Hezbollah attack, risking Iran response

I sincerely hope Trump has been scamming the IRG with his commitment to the ceasefire and hating on Israel.
We should be arming a domestic army to take over and then initiating a systemic destruction of all their military bases to allow an overthrow.
“...a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen...”

I do not understand why the houthis still exist.
As I said before, Iran has never abided by a signed treaty since the late 1970’s. There’s no reason to expect them to honor their word now.
It would be interesting to know
who took this photo, and how it was obtained.
<< I sincerely hope Trump has been scamming the IRG with his commitment to the ceasefire and hating on Israel. >>
Same.
Trump is outmaneuvering Iran, not stopping Netanyahu: https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/428275
“The reports that Trump told Netanyahu not to retaliate are a deliberate deception - part of Trump’s classic strategy to keep the other side off balance. Israel responded against Hezbollah, and rightly so. Israel will not succumb to terrorist blackmail from Iran. Netanyahu will pass the test, and President Trump will continue to outmaneuver the Iranian leadership. The time has come to finish the job,”
Blow up ammo dumps, command and control centers, warehouses for food and supplies, banks and financial institutions, Police command centers, and rail roads in and out of the country.............
It is a picture from March 1st. Plenty of time to get it out since.
Iran and Trump may even be playing the same game. The politicians in Iran say they can’t control the IRGC and Trump says , I can control Israel then he lets it out that he tried to stop them but they still attacked. Now it looks like he can’t control Israel. Then he says he can and the media mocks him saying he can’t control Israel and Iran thinks he can’t control Israel. Israel is now effectively Trumps IRGC
The CIA still exists.
Deep State Operatives in the US State department still exist.
Therefore, Houthis still exist.
