Iran Fires Ballistic Missiles at Israel After Beirut Airstrikes as Regional Tensions Escalate

WATCH LIVE UPDATES: Netanyahu and Trump Hold Phone Call After Iran Ballistic Missile Barrage

Iran launched a ballistic missile attack targeting northern Israel following Israeli airstrikes in Beirut. The attack prompted widespread security measures across Israel, including the cancellation of classes nationwide, as officials prepared for the possibility of additional strikes.

So far, missile alerts have sounded hundreds of times across Israel as Iran has launched at least five separate rounds of missile fire. Approximately six waves of ballistic missiles from Iran have been detected.

The latest escalation began after Israel carried out airstrikes against targets in southern Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold. Israeli officials said the strikes were conducted in response to recent Hezbollah attacks against northern Israel, including missile launches that threatened Israeli civilians.

The Israeli military reportedly intercepted the incoming Hezbollah fire before carrying out retaliatory strikes.

Iran had repeatedly warned that any Israeli strike on Beirut would trigger a response. Following Sunday’s attack, Tehran made good on that threat by launching ballistic missiles toward Israel, further intensifying a conflict that has already drawn in multiple countries across the region.

Iranian officials described the response as a direct consequence of Israeli military actions in Lebanon.

The missile attack comes as President Donald Trump continues negotiations aimed at reaching a broader agreement with Iran. Trump has made clear that sanctions relief will not come automatically.

According to multiple reports, the administration is insisting on stricter nuclear restrictions and additional limitations on Iran’s ballistic missile program before any significant peace deal is made.

While diplomatic efforts continue, the security situation on the ground continues to deteriorate. The renewed violence threatens to derail ongoing discussions between Washington and Tehran and raises fresh concerns about the possibility of a prolonged regional war involving Iran, Hezbollah, Israel, and potentially other actors throughout the Middle East.

This is a developing story. Additional information will be added as it becomes available.

So much for “Iran has been militarily defeated”. We have been lied to.

Trump keeps negotiating with the IRGC. They have no intention of reaching any deal that would give us anything we want. It is a stalling tactic. That’s been their history - sham negotiations to buy time.

Also, his demand that Netanyahu cease targeting Hezbollah, presumably so that he can get a deal with Iran, appears to be a case of the IRGC successfully manipulating Trump.

I posted an article here a few days ago that made those points. It was taken down.

Trump is blinded by his inflated sense of deal-making ability, the stock market, and the midterms. He has deviated from his previously well-developed tendency of doing what is right.

Well Trump called Netanyahu couple hours ago and told him he was in charge and knew what he was doing when in fact Trump has no idea on what to do as the IRGC has him by the nuts and Israel more or less told Trump “right” and so they hit back which made old Trump mad...I am sure they are laughing at Trump and should.

I am sure they are laughing at Trump and should.

Should we just keep arming Israel while they laugh in our face and keep the war going?

Okay. I have an account with FlightRadar so I’m always logged in and don’t see advertisements.

But then, the journalist could have just left that out. Sounds like an AI report...

You expect journalists to read their copy? ... Ah, you must be an old timer ...

About the topic of this article - surely, this week, the pattern of the conflict will be clarified. What are the terms of a peace deal and are they attainable? And if not, then what next?

Trump started it did he not?

He did start it.

He should be impeached at this point for violating the War Powers Resolution and usurping Congress’ power to start wars.

I want our constitutional republic, I don’t want more imperial presidency and endless wars in Africa and the Middle East.

The Constitution doesn't grant Congress any "power to start wars". The War Powers Act is probably unconstitutional.

The Legislative Branch (Congress):
The Declare War Clause in Article I, Section 8, explicitly grants Congress the sole power to declare war and fund the military. Congress has historically exercised this by either officially declaring war or passing an Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF).

The Executive Branch (The President):
Article II, Section 2, establishes the President as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. While presidents cannot officially declare war, they have the constitutional authority to deploy troops and respond to sudden attacks or immediate threats to the United States.
