Trump Is Talking With Tech Executives About Acquiring ‘Pieces’ of Major AI Companies
NOTUS ^ | 6/5/26 | Jeff Stein

President Donald Trump said on Friday that he is talking with the leaders of the largest artificial-intelligence companies about having the government acquire “pieces” of their firms.

It could prove to be among the most significant federal interventions in the private sector in modern history.

The president’s comment confirmed NOTUS reporting that he has been discussing the idea with tech executives for more than a year. He said he is aiming to invite “all of them” to the White House as soon as next week.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has talked to Trump about having shares of AI companies, including his own, voluntarily ceded to the government. The resulting investment could yield dividends that would be paid out to the American public through the government.

“There’s so much money, it’s so big. There are concepts where pieces could be given to the American public where the American public essentially becomes a partner with the companies,” Trump said. “The American people can benefit from the success of AI — and if they do that, they’re going to like it better.”

How Bernie-ish. Meanwhile Bannon is calling for a 50% equity stake “for the people not the government” whatever that means.

It reminds me of the early 30s when you had people looking at Germany and Italy and thinking that sort of government is the way to go. Mind you, this was before Mussolini and Hitler started showing their teeth. But a lot of people were impressed with what the Nazis were doing in the early days, even FDR envied them.

Keep in mind that almost all Tech companies are heavily invested BY the CCP. ‘Ell, even Google and YTUbe are owned by the CCP via Alphabet.

AI has disruptive potential, if for no other reason than politicos will “invest” like they did in Solyndra. Corrupting AI will be like what was done with Twitter to block discussion of WuhanFlu, etc.

Partial Gov’mt ownership at the outset MIGHT at least give the Fed some opportunity for insight and transparency.

Yes all the same arguments for adopting Fascist methods in the 30s, “If we don’t do it, they will.”

We complained about bailing out the banks and now we’re going to bail out AI companies? If I want to gamble on AI, I’ll do it myself.

I look at these AI companies and I just don’t see how they are sustainable.

This is “Creative Destruction” on steroids.

The federal government acquiring parts of companies? What the heck is Trump thinking? The federal government ruins everything it touches.

The only exception might be the US Marines.

Simple solution. Designate certain US companies critical industries. Majority US ownership only. And don’t let the ChiComs get away with setting up shell companies.

That’s the right solution. Not government ownership of said companies.

government ownership of industry is the textbook definition of fascism.

if this step with AI is necessary for American national defense, okay. But otherwise I have to oppose more government take-overs and control over society and individual citizens in society. In the general case, we need to be reducing government interventions, controls, and restrictions on citizens’ liberties. Not increasing them.

The absurd part of this is that some folks around here think the nationalization of industry is a fine thing. And yet they don’t realize that one of the fundamental aspects of fascism’s economic policies was the government picking winners in industry.

So, when “they” call MAGA fascist….

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has talked to Trump about having shares of AI companies, including his own, voluntarily ceded to the government. The resulting investment could yield dividends that would be paid out to the American public through the government.

Those dividends will, of course, be filtered through political channels and will go directly to favored NGOs where most of those dividends will be lost to corruption and political boondoggles that benefit no one except favored contractors. Ordinary citizens will not get a penny.

”Paid out…………….through the government..” 🤣🤣🤣

These ‘dividends’ will just be absorbed by the Treasury and disappear.

The real reason to do something like this - - is so American taxpayers will be on the hook to fund any BAILOUTS.
