California: The high-tech society that can’t (or won’t) count ballots
New York Post ^ | June 4, 2026 | Joel Pollak

California takes forever to count ballots. And there’s no excuse. No excuse for the delays, no excuse for the Election Night leads that are mysteriously reversed as the mail comes in.

It doesn’t have to be this way. California’s “electile dysfunction” is not a necessary condition. It’s not about fairness, or access, or the size of the population. It’s a political choice. A lifetime ago, I was an election observer in a squatter camp in a black township on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa.

It was the year 2000, and South Africa was holding its first municipal elections. After the polls closed, the election staff gathered all the ballots from the cardboard boxes and assembled around a table to count them.

I worked 2 California elections (c. 2004)before they started the mail in fiasco. We had to stay until the count was finished and correct! Once it took until nearly midnight. We also checked id.

Of coarse there is an excuse. They count the ballots, determine how many more democrat ballots need to be created. Then add them to the real total and then recount in case they made an error.

Here is the “excuse”. They have to scan in all the envelopes for ‘signature verification’. Which nobody gets to really contest, verify, recheck, and is completely arbitrary - you can set these machines for 90% accuracy (which means you have to be pretty close to the signature on your registration) or 10% accuracy (which basically means a scribble resembling letters). This is what they call ‘security’ but is really security theater which can be easily manipulated to enable fraud, ballot harvesting and more by letting just about any sign envelop go through.

Plus, the law allows for any envelope postmarked by election night. Which means ballots will come in for an entire week.

Then, they are counted.

But first, they count all the early vote by mail ballots. So that gives them a heads up on how the races are looking, and if they were inclined to cheat tells them how many ballots they need to generate and postmark.

In one drop on Election Night, 24,000 ballots came through for Los Angeles city. Not 1 vote went to Spencer Pratt in that entire batch. Zilch. Zero. Nada. This is a guy who got about 30% of the votes in a 3 way race. But somehow got zero votes in a batch of 24,000 ballots! The statistical probability of this happening are so close to zero that you can say it is impossible. I mean, even someone who screwed up is likely to have mistakenly voted for Pratt. But nope. So tell me it’s honest and fair and no cheating going on. LOL.

So yeah, “very secure” elections in California.

The good news is that the districts they carved up to try to deny the GOP 3 seats looks like a dud - GOP is likely to hold 2 of the 3 gerrymandered districts.

The population of the United Kingdom is about 68 million and California 39 million. When they have a national election you will know by midnight or the next morning at the absolute latest. California may be weeks later.

This is by design to facilitate election fraud by the democrat machine. There is no other explanation. Why can the UK count paper ballots by midnight (The UK uses paper ballots) and California can not? The answer is simple, it is fraud designed into the system.

I lived in the UK for a few years. Their elections are clean and honest.

A lot of people don’t like the U.K.’s “first past the post” system.

"The statistical probability of this happening are so close to zero that you can say it is impossible."

Nothing is impossible when democrats/communists/fascists control the counting and manufacturing of ballots.

"I lived in the UK for a few years. Their elections are clean and honest."

More to their shame for those they've 'elected'.

Kidding. I was in Iraq when they had elections. The first time in decades that they could choose someone other than Saddam. Purple ink-dipped fingers. One citizen. One vote.

What would happen in the United States if we did one-day voting in person and dipped a finger into the ink?

Most of the ballot counters never got out of high school. The number 10 is as high as they can go and then they have to start over again.

In Florida, the signature is on the outside of the actual ballot envelope. Surely this can be done in advance of Election Day.

Yep. And they’ve got 10 rooms full of illegal aliens marking the ballots by hand. These things don’t get done overnight.

It is on the outside envelope. Yes they can (and I think do) start verifying signatures early, that is how they get the early vote dumps soon after the polls close. But they still have a lot more to wait for - mail in ballots and collection of all the drop off ballots. In 2024 the drop off site near me was easy they just asked if that was my signature or if I was dropping off for someone else (no idea what they would’ve asked if I said someone else) but then they could barely fit it into the ballot box. It was jammed full and overflowing. I guess about 10 people were either coming or going to drop off in the few minutes I was there.

This year I just mailed it in. Not many other choices other than to vote in person.
