If Maine Democrats were already nervous, they should be in full panic mode now. Just days after Graham Platner sat down with Senate Democrats and told them straight to their faces that nothing new would come out about him, the New York Times dropped an investigative report that should be the end of his candidacy.
The Times relied on more than two dozen sources, including six of Platner’s former romantic partners, whose stories are backed up by texts, social media messages, and diary entries. The picture that emerged was rather ugly: heavy drinking, serial infidelity, emotional abuse, and physical intimidation.
Platner promised his party this moment would never arrive. He lied.
Lyndsey Fifield, who dated Platner from 2013 to 2015, described a relationship soaked in contempt. She says he used crude slurs against women, juggled overlapping relationships, and got physically rough in ways that left marks. She told the Times that Platner twisted her arm behind her back, shoved her into a bedroom, and held the door shut until she was "calm." Her 2016 diary entry called him "the most toxic, literally abusive man on earth who destroyed my life." Friends who knew her during the relationship back up her account.
It gets worse. Fifield recalled Platner making a specific, repeated statement: "If anybody ever broke in here, I would rape them," clarifying it would be "not in a sexual way, not in a gay way," but to show dominance.
And, of course, there was the truth about the Nazi tattoo. Platner has publicly claimed that he had no idea what it meant and that he covered it up once someone told him. But he knew exactly what it was.

GOP really lucked out with Talarico (being in TX) and Platner (being who he is.) The midterms were supposed to be tough this year...
Can someone make one of those Downfall videos of Hitler getting mad when he hears Platner lost?
Platner and the democRATs are not upset at anything that Platner has said and done.
They are upset that all of this is now public knowledge.
Who will the Democrats substitute in for Platner?
That boy sure do get around, don't he?
It would do my heart good to see this guy lose big time. But I wonder if some Republicans think that if he won, it would be a big disaster for Democrats.
This psycho should be locked up.
Janet Mills the current Governor is technically still on the ballot even though she suspended her campaign a few weeks ago because the polls said she was going to lose, if Platner drops out, she will step up into the top spot and run for Senate.
Rape is a crime of violence in which sex is the weapon.
Platner is the sacrificial goat thrown out to lose to the inevitable Collins. I wonder if Talarico is the same in Texas. I bet the money drawn by these two is not all spent on their campaigns and is is used on more for other more possibly winnable contests.
Damage control and Collin’s is Rino
Talarico would be a shoo-in in Maine. Not TX.
Collins got really lucky with this opponent. She should be playing poker.
Platner will never voluntarily quit this race, he will get the Democratic nomination and in November the Democrats will do all they can to elect him to the US Senate and defeat Collins.Their love of power and hatred of the country knows no bounds.Platner is politically viable because he did not come out of a political, cultural or social vacuum. Maine has been transformed. It has a significant number of migrants and diverse legal immigrants who have no appreciation or intrest in American heritage or true love of the land. It also has much of the endemic population that has avidly embraced neo pagan, hedonistic decadence. Platner has a good chance of winning the general election.
Not necessarily. The demos may be very confident that they could cheat their way to get anybody voted in. How did Biden get in?. Karen Bass won. Gavin Newsom survived recall. All of them incompetent. Swallwell was (is) a totally unlikable character. Don’t think the dems are playing fair and are unwilling to use any method to rig an election.
Indeed, but he is in Texas, not Maine.
That makes no sense. If he won the Senate seat, how would that be a big disaster for Democrats, especially if it helps give them control of the Senate?
