Trump says he could meet Iran’s supreme leader ‘if it was to make a deal’

President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would be “honored” to meet Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

The U.S. president said he would meet the Iranian leader if a deal is reached to end the U.S.-Iran war, which has dragged on into its fourth month. Trump was taking questions from reporters in the Oval Office after making an announcement about coal.

“If we make a deal, it’s possible that I would meet,” he said. “I’d be okay with that.”

Khamenei was named the supreme leader in Iran after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed on the first day of fighting.

Trump said that despite U.S.-Israeli strikes killing his father and other members of his family, he expects that Khamenei would be a “professional.”

“In some circles, he has a very good reputation, actually,” Trump said.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

What? Khamenei isn't in charge - if he's still alive.

Only deal Iran wants is IGRC to continue in charge, keep developing nukes and long range missiles to deliver the nukes to the big Satan, stop the Blockade (which hurts in pocket book), and be able to control straits of Hormuz.

And I’d say it’s very doubtful he’s still alive.

This just illustrates how desperate we are to end this thing. I won’t criticize Trump for bending the knee a bit as we have no good military options left against Iran and the further continuance of this war is not in US interests. Actually it’s not in Israel’s interest either no matter what Netanyahu thinks. We are getting low on interceptor missiles and Israel is getting bombed with impunity. Israel can’ risk using nukes because there’s a strong possibility that Iran either now has nukes itself or at least the ability to quickly acquire one (probably from Pakistan). As Kenny Rogers said “ you’ve got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them, and know when to walk away...

Damn, it is unfortunate that you are not in the Oval Office as an advisor to Trump, so he and the administration could hear your advice.

And the Republican controlled House is doing their best to tie Trump’s hand in the negotations, trying to stop Trump from being able to threaten Iran anymore with military incentives. Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, etc. must be celebrating. Maybe, they thing, the U S can lose another one.

You’d complain no matter what Trump does. You’re like a woman or rather a gestating parent.

I supported Trump right up to the point to where he betrayed me and the many others who took him at his word that he would put an end to these forever wars. So any criticism I send his way is well deserved.

Bovine Scatology.

We have lots of military options. And Israel has to deal with the murdering bastards and are sick of it.

Why don’t you go live there next to Iran and take your chances.

But you can sit in your room typing bs instead. So brave Sir jimwatx.

He is putting and END to this 47 year war.

I’m surprised your IQ remembers to tell your lungs to breathe.

The IRGC believes they have the upper hand. They will not agree to anything - unless we accept a totally one-sided agreement. Trump should forget about negotiations. I don't know why he's trying to reach any agreement with them.

None of the 3 objectives of this war have been achieved, Congress is voting to end it, and 2/3 of the America people oppose it.

What objectives? The ones you perceive?

2/3rds? Doubt it.
