House passes resolution to end US involvement in Iran conflict

House lawmakers passed legislation Wednesday evening that seeks to force the United States to end the conflict in the Middle East by making it withdraw troops from the hostilities with Iran.

The House bill would make President Donald Trump end the conflict, marking a significant victory for House Democrats who have attempted three other times to pass an Iranian war powers resolution.

The legislation passed in a 215 to 208 vote, which saw four Republicans vote with all Democrats. Republican Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Tom Barrett of Michigan and Warren Davidson of Ohio voted in favor of the measure.

Maine Democratic Rep. Jared Golden, who has voted against the three previous attempts, also helped pass the legislation by dropping his opposition and voting in favor of it, CBS News reported.

The move is primarily viewed as symbolic because it would need to pass the Republican-led Senate and Trump would need to sign the legislation for it to take effect.

From an earlier post on the same topic...

This is not a false choice fallacy.

It's either from below...

A. Prevent cruel Iranian despots from maniacally wielding nuclear threats against the free world to extort power and control and billions of dollars, or...

B. Attempt to embarrass Trump.

Iranian inner circle: “I feel a lot of aid and comfort from the US House.” “Me, too.” “Let’s hunker down a few more months.”

Even PBS says:
The United States has formally declared war only 11 times in its history, meaning hundreds of other military conflicts and interventions were launched without a formal congressional declaration. Historical estimates record at least 125 to over 240 instances where a U.S. president used military force or intervened abroad without formal declarations.

“Our wonderful loving patriotic congress is setting this Nation up for a serious attack. “

It won’t pass the senate.

Even so, Trump would veto it.

“end the conflict in the Middle East”

The Israeli cabinet and the IRGC are the deciders.

Trump is merely the blabbering buffoon.

What’s MOST surprising is that it’s not, ‘The Usual Suspects!’

Of course not Ukraine!!!

We’re fighting that EEEEEvil empire Russia there.
In Iran, we’re merely fighting an ancient murderous cult that pretends it is a religion, and is within weeks of nuking our only ally in the region.

Sarcasm, of course. We have a LOT more reason to be dealing with the raggedy people in Iran than we do with the DNC laundering operation known as Ukraine.

AND bragged about it in campaign fundraising.

All part of the MiGOP lose-at-any-costs campaign strategy. Strong determination to say things that inspire turnout by Dems and depress actual Republicans. See also Dixon, Tudor.

Thank you for posting mononymous.

Even so, Trump would veto it.

I had a look at the article. Ok, let's call a resolution legislation. But presidential signature or "veto" for a resolution is Hollywood at best imo.

So are congressional anti-Trumpers playing voters with a resolution (Oh Noes!) in an important election year? Never! /sarc

Correction welcome.

In 1776, American patriots risked their farms and fortunes to finance freedom.

When the Midget Z man sells his Swiss chalet, London and Paris apartments, His seaside
mansion, his ocean going luxury yacht, his wife's jewelry and diamonds, and his stash of
gold bouillon, then we might consider foreign aid to Ukraine.
