Secretary of State Rubio Says Iran ‘War over Now,’ Details U.S. Redlines in Negotiations with Regime
Breitbart ^ | June 02, 2026 | Joshua Klein

Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared Tuesday that the Iran war is “over now,” while laying out what he described as the Trump administration’s non-negotiable conditions for any broader agreement currently under discussion with Tehran — including the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the surrender of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile, and severe long-term restrictions on the regime’s nuclear program before any sanctions relief would be considered.

Speaking in his first public congressional testimony since the launch of Operation Epic Fury in February, Rubio argued the Trump administration’s military and economic pressure campaign has significantly weakened the Islamic Republic while pushing Tehran into negotiations over aspects of its nuclear program the regime had previously refused to even discuss.

“There is the prospect before us — which could happen today, it could happen tomorrow, it could happen next week,” Rubio told lawmakers, referring to ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran. “For the first time, certainly in my memory, they have agreed to negotiate aspects of their nuclear program that just a month ago, just a year ago, they were refusing to even mention.”

Rubio said the current phase of negotiations is centered on forcing Iran to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz and commit to follow-up talks over its nuclear infrastructure and highly enriched uranium stockpile, while making clear the administration would not offer upfront sanctions relief in exchange for reopening the strategic waterway.

Knowing what liars the mullahs/IRGC are, I would *FULLY* expect them to say “We don’t have any uranium, you guys blew it all up at Fordow”. And since you can go in there to GET it, there’s no way to prove that to be a lie.

Shall we ping the cabal of Never Trumpers to the thread? There are a bunch of people here who have been gleefully predicting and hoping for defeat in every possible way. They don’t believe that it was important to put a stop to the Iranian’s wholehearted effort to get nuclear warheads for their ever-growing number of ballistic missiles. At least a few of them will no doubt come across this thread.

Over? Yeah, we'll see.

This just might be Trump's Mission Accomplished fiasco.

Mission Accomplished

Iran/Rubio/Trump all say, “This time we really mean it!”........as the rockets, missiles and bombs fly again.

I will believe Iran means it when I see it.

Meanwhile, the Immortal Guards of Iran are begging for arms, so they can take their liberation into their own hands.

The newly-formed “Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA)” said some 300 non-Iranian ships have applied for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz———the Authority is seeking to create a permanent toll system along the vital passageway.

The majority of ships applying were oil tankers, with at least 77% looking to exit the Persian
Gulf to reach Asia, particularly China and India, two of the Middle East’s largest fuel buyers.

As of early June 2026, President Trump’s strategy for the Strait of Hormuz has included direct efforts to guide and protect shipping, though the approach has evolved from public announcements to more discreet methods.

Trump’s “Project Freedom” (May 2026): In early May 2026, President Trump announced “Project Freedom,” a U.S. initiative designed to “guide” commercial ships, particularly those not involved in the ongoing US-Israel war with Iran, out of the strait, which had been effectively blocked by Iranian forces. -——— NPR

Methodology: The initiative initially featured US Central Command (CENTCOM) utilizing guided-missile destroyers, over 100 aircraft, and 15,000 personnel to provide a “defensive umbrella”. It was explicitly designed as a “coordination mechanism” to help ships avoid Iranian mines and interference, rather than a traditional, one-on-one Navy escort for every vessel.

After an initial announcement and start, Trump announced a temporary pause in “Project Freedom” on May 5, 2026, to allow for potential diplomatic agreements with Iran. ———BBC

Following the pause of “Project Freedom,” the U.S. has transitioned to a quieter approach, coordinating with shippers to navigate the area, often at night and near the Omani coast, with the US military offering support when necessary. -——— The Straits Times

Throughout the period, the administration has maintained that it will use force, including conducting “self-defense strikes” against Iranian forces, to ensure the free flow of energy through the region.

The strategic goal of this action is to break the Iranian blockade of the waterway, which has hindered global shipping and raised oil prices. ———BBC

For two months now the US administration has said every 5th day or so, “the war is over!”, “the strait is now open!”, Iran has accepted the deal!”.. “Complete and total surrender for Iran!”, etc.. etc.. etc.. etc.. etc....
It’s like an inverted “cry wolf” situation. And it makes it all look like a clownish, clumsy disinformation to campaign.

Reality:
There is zero deal.
The mollahs aren’t negotiating on anything and had never intended to.
Only America is trying to desperately find a deal. The Mollahs aren’t interested.

Therefore:
The war must CONTINUE based on Isreal’s doctrine : All the way to victory and no endless ceasefires which only benefit the Mollah regime - that has given them the opportunity to rearm like crazy.

Sad.

Israel can’t end the war because they don’t have enough military power to finish off Iran using conventional weaponry. They need their main benefactor to finish the job.

Which might work, since the Trump administration is so easily influenced by whatever bullshit Israel proposes to them.

Sad.

Did it ever occur to you that our bloated military budget, might not be producing the munitions arsenal to win the wars so many on FR are advocating.

Especially, when we’ve been handing them out to Ukraine & Israel like Halloween Candy.

Trump just told Israel to stop in Lebanon. No, President is making the same mistake that Bibi did in Gaza. Wars must be fought totaly. Trump’s hero, Andrew Jackson would be upset with him.

Jackson wouldn’t have given a crap about what was going on in the Middle East.

His big issue in foreign policy was something with France that was resolved through diplomacy.
