Have you wondered what happened to Project Freedom?
That was the operation President Donald Trump announced about helping ships get out of the Persian Gulf and transit through the Strait of Hormuz, in the face of potential threats from Iran. Then it was stopped, and we didn't hear much about it.
Turns out it appears to have been going on, in some measure, right under the nose of the Iranian regime, without letting it be known.
American forces in recent weeks have helped coordinate the passage of dozens of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, according to U.S. officials, even as travel through the waterway remains risky amid stalled negotiations to end the war with Iran.
U.S. Central Command has guided around 70 commercial ships through the strait, traveling into and out of the Persian Gulf, in the last three weeks, one of the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters. The U.S. officials added that most of the vessels had turned off their transponders to avoid detection when going through the narrow waterway.
While that's not the pre-Operation Epic Fury level of transit, that's still getting a lot of ships out, with their owners deciding they've had enough of Iran's threats and being willing to take the risk. They're obviously not identifying what routes they are taking or how they are achieving it. But so much for the Iranian ability to stop them, if they got that many through. The U.S. guiding system obviously works.
So why is it now coming out with U.S. officials talking about it? Likely because the U.S. military has now identified the various issues that can arise, the right routes to use, and can more fully ensure safety. Now they can say more generally to the shipping community that it can be done because we've done it, which should help a return to normal shipping rates.
Meanwhile, it's been a busy day on the Iran front. Iran has been throwing a hissy fit about Hezbollah getting crushed by Israel, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) capturing strategic positions. Iranian state media said they were pulling out of talks with the U.S. as a result. Then, Iran reportedly activated the Houthis to cause trouble because of the actions by Israel against Hezbollah.
But then Iran had a wrench thrown back at them, with a report that Hezbollah may be willing to disarm and go to a ceasefire, without Israel leaving Lebanon. President Donald Trump also announced he'd spoken with Hezbollah and they'd agreed to stop fighting.

So it doesn't sound like the Iranian regime is having a happy day, with the U.S. outwitting them in the Strait of Hormuz, and even Hezbollah going off script.
Meanwhile, if they continue to play games, the blockade is still crushing their economy, and the military option may come back.

I have thought this since the beginning. If their navy is gone, their aircraft are gone, there radar stations gone, communication centers gone, how would they know a ship passed by if it was out of eyesight.
But what do I know.....
70 ships are nothing as they were doing 100’s a day..the Navy must be asleep...
They could be getting help from China or Russia.
But then, why would they want to help Iran stop shipments through the Strait?
70 more than would have otherwise.
I would guess they are focusing on important ones.
You really need to sod off you turd!
Tell that to the folks who would not get ANY oil, otherwise
So they are routing these ships on the Omani side of the strait, in Omani territorial waters with a military escort. The Omanis could build a canal and charge a small tool, and Iran would lose its leverage.
Not just China and Russia...
The Russians have been reported as supplying target information to them for their missiles............
The clomps of red dots on the map have gone away
70 compared to 0 - and you have to urinate on it?
How old were you before you stopped saying “Waaaaaaaa!” (out loud, anyway) every time you didn’t get 100% of what you wanted?
