France: Seven in Ten Believe Crime Is ‘Out of Control’, Country Faces ‘Mexinization’

A survey has found that over seven in ten people in France believe that crime is “out of control”, with fears that the country is sliding towards a “Mexinization” in which public authority is destroyed.

According to a poll this week from CSA for Le Journal du Dimanche, 72 percent of French people believe that crime is out of control.

This belief is firmest among supporters of the center-right Républicains at 92 percent, followed by 83 percent of National Rally, and 62 percent of supporters of President Emmanuel Macron’s neo-liberal bloc.

The sentiment was also held by a majority of left-wing voters at 55 percent overall. This included 58 percent of supporters of the far-left La France Insoumise party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon and 51 percent of Socialist voters. …

It really comes down to how honest the world's elections really are. Yes, it appears that the people of France voted for awful government. And looks like the UK and Germany have done the same.

But maybe it's just governments having fake elections and then telling the people, "Oh! Look who you just elected!"

France screwed up with their African colonies. After leaving them, they let the African natives into France thinking they owed it to them. They should have walked away from Africa and pulled up the welcome mat.

Only Green Party supporters were below a majority, at just 45 per cent, in not believing that the country faces the prospect of becoming like Mexico...

Only the Greens - as if we needed reminding that they're nuts - and with a healthy majority everywhere else in the polity, right or left. You'd think the government would be forced to do something about it, wouldn't you? Unless, of course, if the government isn't working for the people, and has unstated priorities higher than them for some reason.

How long a government can continue to ignore the voters in a putative democracy is the question here. I wouldn't have predicted very long, but then they certainly have so far.
