A former CIA officer in Virginia is accused of stealing tens of millions of dollars in gold bars and foreign currency from the very agency he worked for, according to an FBI affidavit and a source familiar with the matter.
David Rush was arrested last week in Virginia on one charge of theft of public money. He has not yet entered a plea and remains behind bars pending a detention hearing in the case.
The FBI alleges Rush became a senior executive government employee with top-secret clearance by lying repeatedly on applications about his military service and education, falsely saying he was a Navy pilot and had advanced degrees.
Court documents, however, don’t clarify why the CIA failed to detect Rush’s false claims before hiring and promoting him. He worked for the agency for 17 years, according to an FBI affidavit, and his claims were easily dispelled by investigators.
An attorney for Rush declined to comment.

I had a TS/SCI clearance for 38 years - I also served as a a Security Manager and processed many applications for investigations - and there’s’ no way I, or anyone around me could have gotten away with all the lies he used and still get ANY clearance. Someone dropped the ball - bigly...or they were paid off and the checkers are crooked too.
The background investigations were fraudulent. The Deep State moved this traitor into the CIA Senior Executive Service because he was one of theirs and they could use him.

Should, but it will not. A trial would reveal too much.
He was installed into this position. I was thoroughly vetted for my Airman Basic TS clearance, and my E5 Coast Guard TS clearence. They sent a security guy to my college to examine my school records, interview neighbors, interview military officers, etc. about my service record. And, I was unremarkable, but credible.
This whole story is b.s.
