Go Marco! It's Your Birthday! (And You're the Most Popular Man in the GOP
PJ Medsi ^ | 28 May 2026 | Sarah Anderson

Today, Thursday, May 28, is Secretary of State Marco Rubio's 55th birthday. I hadn't planned on marking the occasion, but everyone else in the media and politics seems to be, and our managing editor Chris Queen jokingly suggested I join them. And if you've been reading my articles for the last year and a half, you know I never pass up a chance to say good things about the most popular man in the Republican Party.

Oh yeah, it's true. Even CNN admits it.

According to the network's poll analyst, Harry Enten, earlier this week, "Marco Rubio is really, really, really popular with Republicans." The only Republican currently polling more popular is Donald Trump himself.

He added, "His chances to be the Republican nominee in 2028 are up like a rocket taking off from Cape Canaveral."

He isn’t popular with me. Not interested in Rubio.

He's the same age as my youngest son.

I'm definitely getting old.

What happens to Vance?

Vance and Rubio need to sit down together about a year from now and decide which at the top of the ticket would be best to defeat the leftist scum of the democrat party. I would be equally happy with either one of them being president or the VP. I lean toward Rubio due to his great skills in speaking and razor sharp mind plus his ability to speak Spanish. Spanish speakers each day are becoming an important portion of the Republican vote. I lean toward Vance due to his Trump like personality of take no prisoners but crush your enemy. Both are total patriots. Both are good men.

Perhaps Rubio could go for a "twofer" 8 years of President of the United States and then of Free Cuba.

I could see Vance or Rubio as P or VP
I also like to see Rubio stay Secretary of State.
Or maybe they could make Trump Secretary of State.

Rubio has really come out as very impressive, really exceeding what I was expecting.

He’s going to be a strong candidate if he runs in 2028.

I will say that he is doing a lot better than I thought he would.

Rubio is the more pro-war, pro-establishment candidate. He is being pushed by the MSM.

Vance has handled hostile media well.

Yes, Little Marco is has achieved star status. I'm so impressed by his ability to
clearly transmit ideas succinctly. Rubio does not speechify. He is smart as a whip.

I agree.

If Rubio is at the top of the ticket, the distrupters will go third party, split off just enough votes and the Democrats will win.

There appears to be some DNC media chicanery to pit Rubio against Vance to damage both. Vance has been an effective VP, another four (or eight) years as a VP with POTUS Rubio wouldn't be calamitous. The two of them, and Cruz, and DeSantis, are likely to be in the Republican field in 2028.

Not even close to being qualified.

They should have left him in the Senate.

It’s the 40 years he can serve. He’s unlikely to ‘evolve’ on the court.

I hope the GOP remembers that Marco is very pro-amnesty. At least he used to be. He could have changed; I don’t know.
