For the love of God, will John Thune finally listen to angry GOP voters

The filibuster, not any candidate, is what Republican voters are rejecting across the country

There is no question that President Donald Trump is the most powerful person in the Republican Party, but it is equally clear that he was not the reason for four-term Texas Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, getting trounced in his primary Tuesday night. That was all the voters.

When Trump endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over Cornyn late last week, the die was already cast. The president, not surprisingly, just wanted his name associated with the win, and that is something that Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., desperately needs to understand.

Thune now has the ignoble distinction of being the only Republican Senate majority leader ever to lose two sitting members to primary challenges in one cycle. There was Sen. Bill Cassidy, of Louisiana, before Cornyn, and that doesn’t count Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., who declined to seek re-election rather than being trounced himself.

Democrats and the Left explain this sunsetting of so many GOP senators as the cult of Trump at work. CNN’s Van Jones gravely intoned that, "Trump betrayed a decent, honorable man… he destroyed the career of a U.S. senator." This is nonsense that Republicans must not fall for.

TRUMP BACKS PAXTON IN TEXAS REPUBLICAN SENATE SHOWDOWN WITH CORNYN

Trump didn’t even campaign against Cornyn. We all know what it looks like when Trump goes after someone, and this time, there was no name-calling or invective from the president. Sure, he made a late endorsement, but he really did leave this in the hands of Texas voters.

For their part, Texas voters sent a message the size of a longhorn through Paxton’s historically large 28-point victory. Sam Houston could have endorsed Cornyn and...

He should, but he won’t.

The arrogance and self-delusional entitlement of the RINO establishment is beyond measure.

Thune believes he is correct and the voters are wrong, stupid, dirty, and common. He detests us far more than he detests Leftists.

He will stay his course until removed.

And when removed, he will just detest us more.

Cornyn getting cornholed should be a massive shot across the bow to that Ken-doll running the senate. It’s too bad the NRSC’s 100 million dollars prevented Paxton from winning the primary outright as the message would have been sent earlier.

Nope. He fears nothing (except for blackmail from the leftists?), so why would he?

Lol. He’s not up for re-election for a long time. Don’t you hate it when Republicans ignore the base and just do whatever they feel like?

What really pisses me off is that it’s not even a filibuster. Just getting rid of this silent crap means that if they want to filibuster they still can they just have to do it the real way. This is just a way of giving a SINGLE somebody permission to shut down legislation anytime they want

There should be no So called silent filibuster regardless of who’s in power. It’s the Antithesis of a real filibuster.

I hate the Republican Party establishment. They look down their snotty noses at us as the hoi polloi.

Thune dreams of the day when he can become Minority Party Leader. He’s working hard to achieve this goal.

President Trump didn’t take power we gave it to him. We the voters put him where he is to do what we wanted him to do.

Just as the voters took Cornyn’s power away because he was not doing what the voters wanted.

Honestly the whole of media, since the 80's but steady snowballing since, reminds me of The Enquirer and teeny-bopper gossip magazines. Only the willfully ignorant could be unaware of it at this point and none of it can be taken seriously. But here we are. Every day. **sigh**

Ima just keep pullin all my relevant handles. d;^)

To be blackmailed, you have to have committed a crime, unsavory activity or violation. What did he do?
